kelly & andrew are married!

By | Weddings | One Comment

kelly & andrew met in high school- their first date was in 2001! what started as a fun little crush (on kelly’s side) and complete cluelessness (on andrew’s side) turned into an 11 year dating relationship that flourished even as they lived across the country (and at times across the world!) from one another. but, if you’ve seen kelly & andrew together, you immediatly know you’re witnessing something special. their openness and obvious love for one another is inspiring to see and their deep friendship and shared history makes them so comfortable and relaxed around each other. kelly & andrew are the kind of people who, after spending just one evening with them, make you feel like you’re part of the same story. we knew going into their wedding day that it would be special, different somehow, from what we usually can expect or anticipate. we’d looked over their schedule, we knew there’d be all the usual events, but we also knew kelly & andrew- and to us that meant we could expect a lot more. :) the party was big and awesome and we had a great time capturing everything from their sweet private dinner to the crazy dance party complete with lots of tambourines (kelly’s favorite!). they just don’t miss one moment of fun- every second was bursting with happiness and energy and love.

andrew, knowing that kelly had been looking for a pair of emerald earrings and knowing that she had yet to find any she liked, surprised her with the most perfect pair. she was so touched that he’d found them and so excited that she wore them all day!

kelly & andrew decided ahead of time that they didn’t want to see one another before the ceremony but andrew, unbeknownst to kelly, figured out a way that he could at least give her a kiss before she walked down the aisle. the moment was quick and sweet, and i love that his mom helped him prepare. :)

i love this private, quiet moment just after the ceremony:

andrew called kelly up to the stage and gave her a big box containing his and her’s tambourines- that’s true love! :)

kelly & andrew, congratulations! we are so so happy for you two and we wish you the very best. thank you so much for letting us into your world to capture such a special day!

melanie & kyle are married!

matt & i first met melanie & kyle about four years ago while (watching some friends) brewing beer in someone’s driveway we both only knew through blogging. for a while, we saw melanie there almost every monday- her appearance was always a relief to me as these get togethers tended to be pretty guy-heavy. she liked good music, good beer, good food & cute puppies so pretty quickly i felt we were friends. :)  when kyle got a job in arkansas, they packed up and left atlanta to start a new life in their new city, together. and then they moved again- now they’re texans! can you even imagine packing up everything you own and leaving your friends and family, not once but twice in just two years!? and to such different places too!? hats off to you, melanie & kyle, for making the very best of what must have been a pretty crazy two years. we kept up with their moves on twitter- the struggles and celebrations and everything in between, and i often found myself smiling at their back and forth playful banter and feeling that melanie & kyle are just the most natural and perfect fit for one another. they seem so relaxed and comfortable when they’re together- clearly they are best friends. and when best friends get married? well, that’s just the best. :)

melanie & kyle had their ceremony and reception at hill manor- so it was there that we met them for their final preparations and first look images. as often as we go to weddings, my eyes still fill up when i see a guy totally blown away by how incredibly beautiful his bride looks on their wedding day- and kyle was exactly that. his smile when he saw melanie could not have been any wider- it is just not possible.

i just love the dress melanie chose- the scalloped edges and the eyelet details and the applique! oh my!

melanie let her ladies pick their own dresses- what a beautiful combination!

melanie & kyle, we are so happy for you guys! you make such a wonderful couple and we feel so blessed to call you friends. we wish you the very best!

heather & trey are married!

sometimes it just seems like there is too much wedding inspiration to absorb, incorporate, diy- etc and it’s easy to feel a sense of fatigue or frustration set in as you mindlessly flip through beautiful image after beautiful image on the glossy pages of a magazine or the endless scrolling that is: pinterest (or maybe that’s just my own experience??). while it’s true there is probably always something else that could be done, it’s also true that having the perfect wedding for you means focusing on a few key things- and those change for every couple. it seems best to figure out your nonnegotiables, focus on making those exactly what you want them to be, and then close the computer and enjoy your wedding! a couple of weeks ago we shot a wedding in one of our second-home cities, athens, and it was one of the most beautiful days of fun, energy, smiles and love that i’ve ever been a part of! heather & trey know each other- they know each other’s personalities, priorities and hearts. their day was overflowing with what was most important to them- which, translated, means spending all of their time and energy surrounded by friends and family having the best day of their lives. :) i’ve rarely seen two people so connected and so in their element and comfortable on their wedding day. heather & trey are so naturally engaging and their energy and excitement is so infectious that not a moment of celebration was lost! matt and i found ourselves just as caught up in the celebration as the guests, and we feel so blessed to have been a small part of their perfect wedding!

heather’s cousin’s boyfriend (i hope i have that right!) is a classical pianist and he spent a few minutes playing while the girls were getting ready. so calming and inspiring!

heather stuck with her trademark curls for her wedding day- i loved her natural look!

while the girls sipped champagne at the beautiful, new, hotel indigo, the guys hung out at the rooftop bar at the legendary georgia theatre– classy in the classic city.

heather is stunning.

i love this image of heather and her sweet mom- they have so much fun together!

after a few portraits at the hotel, everyone headed across the street to the foundry for the ceremony:

somehow, trey’s wedding ring was left at the hotel and they quickly improvised with heather’s dad’s college ring! but the MOMENT the ceremony ended one of heather’s bridesmaids flew back to the hotel to get the ring and it was on trey’s finger just minutes after the ceremony ended!

back at hotel indigo, guests gathered in the rialto room ready to cheer on the newlyweds the moment they walked through the doors!

i love this emotional image from heather and her dad’s dance:

heather & trey, you two are so perfect for one another! we had so much fun on your wedding day- thank you so much! we wish you the very best! go dawgs!!
