renee & eric are married!

for renee & eric’s wedding we headed back to matt’s hometown, augusta, ga. as we got off the interstate, matt and i laughed about his trouble-making childhood and what renee must have thought of him when they first met in second grade. luckily, she doesn’t seem to have much memory of his shenanigans or we probably wouldn’t have been trusted to shoot her wedding day. luckily, matt has made some big changes in his life since elementary school. ;)

reminiscing had us in a nostalgic mood and it was with a smile that i showed up to start shooting renee’s wedding day. the sense of nostalgia only increased when i was greeted by lovley past brides and bridesmaids, jessica, andrea and amanda, now all bridesmaids for renee, as well as another bridesmaid from matt’s second grade class. i agree with what you’re thinking- it was kinda confusing but crazy fun!

now, let me take that confusion one step further and switch up our blogging routine. i’m going to post our favorite image first! because just in case all of my blabbering makes you almost close our posts before you enjoy the pictures at least look at this first one. i love it because it incorporates the fire truck they brought in to take them to the reception (at an old firehouse) while also portraying renee & eric’s relaxed personalities and fairytale love for one other. so, to renee & eric!

i love the way matt views the world:

renee, workin’ it! i guess since this was the 4th time renee has been photographed by us she ‘gets it.’ ;) i love the drama:

just before the ceremony renee had a quick moment of fighting off the water gathering in her eyes.

i love this next image of renee & eric’s recessional. they look so peaceful and happy to be married:

matt, in his brilliance, found the best angle for shooting the cake cutting. props to him for running outside and capturing the whole scene through the window. he totally rocks:

renee & eric, you guys are so awesome and i have no doubt you’ll always have fun with life! we so appreciate you guys having us there to photograph your wedding and we hope you guys had a restful honeymoon in the mountains!

apparently leigh & ryan are at one with the universe. or nature owes them a favor. either way, i cannot remember the last time we enjoyed such a PERFECT blend of love, sun, mist, pastures and connection. maybe we never have. but let me just say that about 10 minutes into shooting these lovebirds our cameras could have exploded and we’d still have been 100% THRILLED with the images we’d captured. leigh & ryan are relaxed together; they glow with joy and a deep sense of understanding flows between them. sometimes they joke with one another and sometimes they just talk sweetly and quietly but no matter what they are up to they are clearly perfect together. spending the early hours of the morning capturing these two on the beautiful grounds of berry college was a dream come true. quite literally since i may have actually been in an out of dreams having woken up at 5am to start shooting at sunrise. it was beyond worth it; this shoot definitely makes it in our top favorite shooting experiences ever:

oh leigh & ryan, where to begin with you guys? i am SO glad we finally found the perfect date and time for these images- you guys truly were amazing to capture. we are so looking forward to the wedding day- capturing everything as you guys start your new life together will be such a blessing.

so matt and i have been sitting here trying to remember when exactly it was that we first met stephen. i know there was some email correspondence when stephen headed up a photography project for our community but i think we officially met him at a mixer hosted by the legendary, zack arias. sidenote for photogs: you should know this name, zack arias. if you’re at all interested in amazing lighting techniques, look into onelight. if you’re just starting out, look into photo 101. and if you’re into photogs with an inspiring passion for honest expression, you need to shake his hand. sidenote over. so we were at zack’s when we first met stephen. he was on the verge of quitting his day job and diving head first into photography and, of course, we totally wanted that for him. since that first meeting we’ve watched his portfolio explode with awesome projects. he is rocking it. when we first met kristine, we immediately understood why stephen felt the confidence to take a chance on starting his own business. kristine is just so strong! she’s encouraging and optimistic and adventurous- what a great pair they make! oh, and i can’t leave out that they are parents to two of the cutest kids ever, with the most energy i’ve ever seen in my life. seriously guys, you wonder how kristine maintains her hot mom physique? two words: adler & beckett:

this is pretty much the perfect sequence to capture their shoot- adler & beckett LOVE to run and they are so cute doing it! i can already tell i’m going to have a hard time disciplining my kids with a straight face if they are even close to as hilarious as these two!

thankfully, kristine’s sister rylie was there to entertain the boys (black eyed peas dance parties were the entertainment of choice, LOVE) while we grabbed some images of just stephen & kristine. this is a favorite of mine:

kristine brought popsicles for a treat at the end of the shoot and the silence that followed the opening of the pops was complete- adler & beckett are pretty serious when it comes to their treats! :)

a couple more of stephen & kristine before we called it a wrap; we just loved the texture of the corrugated metal:

stephen & kristine, thank you so much for trusting us to capture your family. it was something totally new for us and it gave us a whole new perspective on shooting action! ;) seriously, you guys have an awesome family and we hope you enjoy the images.
