the golden months

By | Personal | 4 Comments

so, fall is upon us! i didn’t want to talk about this too soon and jinx the crispness right out of the air (um, STARBUCKS) because atlanta is fickle about letting go of her strangling humidity and heat. but, i hope i can finally say it’s fall. autumn. the golden months. my favorite time of year.

jut a few days ago i woke up to 50 degrees and glorious sun so after happily digging out sweats & long sleeves to walk stella with matt, i headed out to embrace fall. i quickly lost myself among the soup veggies at the farmers market and followed that with a similar black out experience on the baking aisle at the grocery store a few days later. all that really means is we ended up with TONS of fall fare before i even really considered if we could eat it all. thank goodness for our little half-freezer as it is now burgeoning with carrots, celery, parsley, basil, cabbage, green onions, beans, peas & tomatoes all chopped and ready to be thrown into a pot. we really should have a soup party and then serve lots of baked goods for dessert as my pantry is similarly stuffed with fall baking goodness. party time!

all this to say, i feel most inspired at this time of year. watching stella gallop (yup, i should post a video of this phenomenon) around the back yard invigorated by the cool air i find i can relate. matt & i have been finally getting around to some house projects we’ve avoided all summer- back yard work to prepare for our gardens in the spring, replacing some boards and repainting the front porch and we even potted some MUMS for a little color (moms everywhere applaud!). but in addition to the housework, we’re dreaming. somehow this is more of a goal setting season for us than new years and we’re coming up with a lot of ideas and goals for the next year- personal & business. so as i sit here coffee in hand, the cool breeze blows through the window beside my workspace and i’m reminded that we have a beautiful life. despite it’s kitchy-ness, we really are blessed with so much and i only hope we do the very best we can with all of it. happy fall, friends! you mean so much to us!

nicole & david are married!

By | Weddings | 5 Comments

nicole & david are one of those couples that are just comfortable together. they seem to be drawn to one another- they stand close when they’re talking to someone else and lean even closer to one another when they are talking together. all of this they seem to do without realizing it- just as if they feel a pull to be together- they are so sweet to capture. since they are so obviously the perfect fit for one another there was no trace of nervousness the morning of their wedding. notice i didn’t say there was no trace of joyful tears- there were plenty of those! :) nicole was really beside herself with excitement to be marrying david and emotions so strong tend to surprise everyone with how they come out. for nicole, it was glistening tears and huge smiles. it was so sweet to watch her go from just a normal conversation to eyes full and grinning without her even realizing it! the joy and happiness were abundant and nicole’s soft spoken, passionate personality set such a romantic mood for her wedding day. here are just a few of our faves- i love the soft light coming through the windows:

meanwhile, they guys were doing guy stuff. david works in construction and found himself in heaven on his wedding day- opening awesome gift after awesome gift from his best friends. i think this is the closest thing to a ‘shower’ i’ve seen for a guy and it was pretty fantastic.

we’ll leave the guys with their man toys and head back to the ladies for a little bit while nicole takes care of her finishing touches. ;) i absolutely love the grace of this next image- nicole is so naturally graceful in the way she holds herself that capturing that quality quickly became a goal for me throughout her wedding day. be sure to check out their dancing shots during the reception, even dancing nicole exudes a timeless grace so effortlessly.

just before the ceremony was to start nicole and her dad shared a few quiet words and big smiles before the doors opened. i love that moment of every wedding but this was particularly sweet:

as we walked out of the church after the ceremony, the golden sun bathed us in light and we couldn’t wait to get started on some couple portraits!

about half way through the reception an abundance of glowsticks were passed out and all of the sudden everything was kicked up a notch! it was a great way to loosen everyone up and encourage the party:

for their exit, nicole surprised david by wearing his old baseball jacket that his mom had recently rediscovered and secretly given to her. what a sweet way of joining the family and showing her support of all things david!

nicole & david, thank you both for allowing us to be part of your wedding! you guys are so enjoyable to be around and we really loved capturing your day. hope you had a great honeymoon and are settling into married life with ease! :)

taylor & caleb are married!

there were certain points during taylor & caleb’s wedding day where i had to shake my head and remind myself that this was real. it seemed like a movie- everything was planned to perfection and i found myself in the most beautiful settings, surrounded by gorgeous people with seriously fabulous accessories. and the best part was- everyone else was enjoying it too! i didn’t hear a whisper of anxiety the entire day- everyone took their cues from taylor who’s deep love and respect for caleb kept a confident smile on her face all day. there was no doubt that everyone loves taylor & caleb together and no one lost sight of what the day was about- not even when taylor put on her fantastic necklace (close call though)!

taylor really thought ahead about how she wanted her images to look- she picked a clean, white room with lots of natural light for her hair and makeup (by the outrageously talented raney o’keefe) and donned a beautiful silk robe for the getting ready process. she has such a natural glamor and i love how it shows in every detail of her day; it really makes the images more cohesive which, selfishly, i love! :)

i love this next set where taylor’s little sister is helping her get into her dress- it’s so sweet to see sisters who are also great friends:

meanwhile, caleb was looking like a rockstar by the parking deck. for some reason we loved the parking decks around their venue- look for more later! anyway, yes, caleb’s the lucky guy:

taylor & caleb had a short and sweet first look at their venue, the beautiful biltmore ballrooms, before we headed out for some portraits around midtown:

taylor spent the last few minutes before the ceremony with her best friends and her mom- everyone was so encouraging and excited for her- it was a sweet moment:

taylor’s dad officiated the ceremony which made everything just that much sweeter:

LOVE this next image- they both look so happy and their surroundings just echo their romance:

taylor & caleb, we feel so blessed to have been part of such an amazing day. thank you so much for asking us to capture it all; everything was stunning! we wish you guys the very best!
