Jules & Rob are the kind of people who live dreams. They actually do the things most people just think about- they fell for each other while Rob was in New York for a weekend filming a documentary, and Jules moved across the country so they could be together just three months later. A year and a half later they made the move to Atlanta and together they explored and embraced their new city. One year later they were engaged and planning the wedding of their dreams- a celebration filled with old Hollywood glamor, 1920s allure and enchanting details. Jules & Rob are genuine, passionate and happy- the kind of couple you feel privileged to know. It wasn’t easy to narrow down the images we wanted to share with you, but for now, here are our absolute favorites.
Jules & Rob, thank you so much for including us in such a spectacular celebration! We enjoyed capturing every minute of your wedding day- there was so much goodness all around. We wish you the best!
Anyone I’ve talked with for more than 5 minutes knows how much I love our neighborhood and the community here. I feel like it’s our little pocket of Atlanta- walking distance to our favorite ice cream shop, excellent coffee, good eats and drinks, a sweet farmer’s market and, above all, filled to the brim with awesome people that we love- like Kayla & Davis. We pass their house almost daily on our walks, we chat at the neighborhood dog park, we say hi as we pass on evening jogs- we’re part of the same little community and we love it. We also happen to share a love for the NC mountains so when they told me they were planning their wedding at the Bascom, an art museum in Highlands NC, I was pumped!
Since I’m still in the fog of having a new baby (Evy was 9 days old when I shot this wedding!), looking back at all of the beautiful images helped me remember how important it is to capture the story of the wedding day- not just stunning images. While preparing this blog post, I really feel I’m celebrating their marriage all over again!
Kayla is a vibrant, thoughtful, down to earth person- it makes perfect sense that she has delightful, beautiful friends. Their natural, easy smiles throughout the day radiated their love of Kayla and their happiness for her- and I love the mix of those dresses:
Davis’ mom seeing Kayla for the first time, so sweet. I love these honest moments.
First look in the woods, yesss!
And THIS is why we love the mountains of NC so so much! Just stunning scenery around every bend, hidden streams, glistening greens, filtered light- I could go on forever. On Kayla & Davis’ wedding day, a light rain was falling, but in the woods under the old, broad trees, it was relatively dry. So thankful they were up for a little adventure because these images are some of my favorites, ever. I just feel like they capture the feeling of the woods I love so well.
So glad to see Norman was in the front row at their wedding! Pups are a big part of life- if they can be present, they should be. (plus, who can pass this face and not relax and smile?)
My laptop’s new wallpaper- a misty forest in early evening:
There are lots of different ways to approach wedding planning- some of our inquiries are short with lots of exclamation points, some are are seriously detailed and informative, some are business-like, some sound like old friends (some are!) and then sometimes- we got a blend of all of these things, plus a few lines that make us laugh- meet Lindsay & Ryan. I could tell immediately that we’d all get along and be a great fit, and when I met up with them to chat about their wedding, it was easy and comfortable. Their wedding day was overflowing with thoughtful whimsy and playful color- energy and fun seemed to come from every direction!
Lindsay is an incredible designer so naturally she tackled all of the print materials for her wedding, herself! And she found the perfect collaborator in her coordinator/florist/stylist/all things wedding related, Juli Vaughn:
Lindsay & Ryan, thank you so much for having me photograph such an awesome day! I loved looking back through every image- what a great day it was.
