jennifer & rob are married!

By | Weddings | 2 Comments

every year, when spring wedding season rolls around, matt & i find ourselves with a renewed joy- the trees are covered in buds, the sun is warming (our cars are GREEN with pollen) and we’re able to look ahead at all of the wonderful couples we’ll be spending our weekends celebrating. so this year, when the february fog ended and we looked at the calender, seeing jennifer & rob’s names brought smiles to our faces. it’s rare to see a rehearsal dinner on our schedule but there it was- meaning we were going to spend two days in a row capturing their celebration! we enjoyed their rehearsal dinner so much- the toasts were incredible (half were full length poems!), their friends and families mingled easily and the love and support was crystal clear. a beautiful evening.

so when we showed up for their wedding the next morning we were as excited as anyone else for jennifer & rob to start the rest of their life together! well, almost as excited as everyone else- there has never been a bride in the history of brides as excited as jennifer. you guys, i’m serious. she was so calm and cool on the outside but the bubbling excitement on the inside kept overflowing into secret smiles, little giggles and a few times, squeals  & jumping- cutest thing ever! but mostly, there was a solid feeling of ‘meant to be,’ as the time grew closer. but before i get all carried away (or, even further carried away ;)) let’s get to the images:

i love how calm and peaceful these first two pairings are. jennifer is naturally a very graceful person- even when she’s just sitting to have her makeup done or putting on jewelry:

we haven’t included a macro shot in a while and since i love them so much, let’s get back to it! i am so happy with how dramatic this one came out- the inky blacks in the beautiful setting give the diamonds such a stunning glisten!

jennifer loves pink, so naturally:

meanwhile, the gents were arriving ready to get this thing started! i love this series matt captured of rob’s dad (and best man) helping him into his jacket. we could tell from the second we arrived to their rehearsal dinner that rob & his dad have an awesome relationship and we were excited to be able to capture more of it on the wedding day!

really, i think i could write a little paragraph on these two families and how much i respect how sweet and loving everyone is to one another! instead, i’ll leave you with these images of jennifer’s dad seeing her for the first time. he complimented her so specifically- i know that sounds strange but it really said so much about their relationship that he mentioned not only how beautiful she looked but also how perfect the buttons were down the back and the way the fabric fell, almost like water. there wasn’t a dry eye in the room:

then it was time! jennifer & rob were married at peachtree road united methodist church– such a stunning place to be married:

from there we drove just down the street to their reception at the atlanta history center, one of the most beautiful backdrops in the city! we had some time with just jennifer & rob before they were introduced and we are so glad we did! i love how these portraits have such a timeless quality to them- jennifer & rob rocked it for sure!

the reception was a party! i really believe the rest of these images tell the story so clearly- i won’t even comment between them:

jennifer & rob, i know i’m the 23459080th person to tell you this but- you guys are perfect together. we are so thrilled to have been part of such an amazing day and we wish you the very best!

kelly & jim are engaged!

when we woke up last monday it was snowing. not ‘snowing,’ where flower petals swirl around in the air as they fall from trees, not ‘snowing,’ like the height of pollen season when everything is blanketed in a dusty yellow but SNOWING, as in, little pieces of ICE were falling from the sky. maybe that doesn’t seem strange to you but just two days earlier matt and i were in shorts and tank tops planting our garden and enjoying a frosty beverage on the front porch. and then it snowed. you see the frustration? anyway, kelly and i emailed back and forth in disbelief before finally rescheduling her engagement pics for just two days later- when the forecast was 70 and sunny. WHAT ATLANTA!?

that little rant brings us to last wednesday. clad in a tank top, matt in shorts, we arrived in decatur, one of our favorite pockets of atlanta. we strolled through the farmers market and enjoyed the smell of the sun on the fresh veggies and breads before skipping (we were happy about the weather, skipping was ok) into the main square to scout out locations for the shoot. it was quite an enjoyable afternoon- even before the shoot started!

kelly & jim arrived just on time, their smiles tinged with a little unease- probably the exact expression i’d have showing up for someone to take pictures of me! but as soon as we got started the nerves vanished and their smiles were smooth and natural. we wandered around decatur catching up on life- shooting pictures here and there- and genuinely enjoying the time with them- have i mentioned before that we love our clients? we do! kelly & jim are easy to talk to- down to earth, laid back and carefree, they make you feel comfortable right away. capturing them together was a joy! here are just a few of our favorites:

jim is so much taller than kelly we thought it would be fun to capture that little detail about them as a couple:

my fave:

i love that matt thought on his feet quickly enough to capture this next series with the old VW bus-he’s the best. ;)

when we were officially done and heading back to our cars, we noticed a small ray of light streaming through the parking garage beside the lovely pink trees and we couldn’t resist! kelly & jim were up for a little experimentation so we stopped in to see what we could do. i LOVE how dramatic these last few are- a perfect way to end the shoot!

kelly & jim, thanks so much for being flexible with the date- wednesday was perfect and you guys totally rocked this shoot! we are looking forward to seeing you again SO soon for the wedding!

taylor & caleb are engaged!

when taylor first contacted us i knew right away that we wanted to work with her. her enthusiasm overflowed even in her emails and i counted caleb a very lucky man long before i met him last week. seeing them together put all the pieces together for me- they are best friends, equally excited to also be madly in love- it’s such a joy to meet couples like taylor & caleb!

the sun was shining when we met for their engagement pictures last week- the warm air had us all talking about the coming spring and we began shooting with smiles already in place. we quickly realized that taylor & caleb are naturals in front of the camera- their natural tendency to cuddle and grin at one another made our job just that much sweeter! here are a few of our faves from their shoot:

taylor & caleb, thank you guys so much for an awesome shoot! we are so excited for your wedding, no doubt it will be a blast!
