i feel a certain responsibility toward valentine’s day to make it my favorite holiday. we’re kinda in the business of love (should that be the first line of an awesome/awful movie or what?) and with valentine’s day being the celebration of all things love it’s pretty perfect! everything it stands for makes me happy -except possibly unreadable conversation hearts, where’s the joy in that? i’m left with a small piece of chalk to ingest and no cute phrase to cheer me up while i do it. but big picture, everything about valentine’s day does make me happy: love and cuddling and candlelight and big desserts. though it has to be said that even after all of this christmas is still my favorite…but i do know someone who can legitimately say that that valentine’s day is her favorite holiday.
her name is katie and she was my college roommate. for her it seems less about the mushy-ness and more about FUN. i’ve never known her not to wear red or pink (and she is NOT a pink person) on valentine’s day- or even during all of valentine’s week! one year, all dressed in pink, we ordered in with the special request for a ‘valentine’s day pepperoni pizza.’ half way through our chick flick and half way through my art history notes our pizza arrived- pepperonis forming a large heart in the center. i’ve rarely seen her so happy- pictures were taken, spontaneous dancing happened and secretly i wondered if we should take her to meet whoever created the beautiful thing!
anyway, before i met katie i rarely thought twice about valentine’s day but since then i’ve never seen it the same. it’s just a big celebration of happiness and love mixed with a little chocolate- what’s not to like!? as i’ve surfed around the blogosphere this week (um, WHAT? most embarrassing way to start a sentence EVER.), i’ve noticed lots of other people who are having fun with the holiday and it’s made me so excited! probably also because i met up with katie and some girls last friday to kick off valentine’s celebrating- yup, that early. anyway, here are a few things getting me excited!
all of this inspiration and love has basically forced me back into crafting- although honestly i haven’t fought it too hard! ;) it’s a nice change of pace sometimes! anyway, i’m kinda inventorying everything i have and starting little projects along the way- something i haven’t done in a while! at the moment i’m a little paralyzed by the mess that is my desk but at least i’m having fun, right!?! i leave you with this snapshot of my life:

that heart-shaped pepperoni pizza is still one of my favorite valentine’s day memories!! *sigh* oh man. i LOVE it. ok, i haven’t blogged in a LONG time due to busyness, etc…but it might be time to dust off the old keyboard and write a love note to Valentine’s day.
I just adore your style. You are a friend of a friend but I just marvel at your talent (and your hubbys). It is so unique to find such passion between two people that everyone can enjoy like photography. I applaud u both. Keep up the wonderful work…and perhaps one day soon I will need your services..until then I will be a blog stalker :)
