lena & elliot are engaged!

By | Engagement Sessions | 20 Comments

when we first met lena & elliot we were planning on shooting their wedding and we were so excited! but shortly after our meeting, lena was offered an amazing job and with that came a wedding date switch- we were so bummed to find ourselves unavailable!

…but ANYWAY, lena & elliot rock! and they’re hilarious! and really, it bares repeating- HILARIOUS. seriously, we could hardly keep up with them. elliot had ideas for different shots faster than we could even shoot. LITERALLY. their energy is quite contagious but also just really impressive. we explored midtown for this shoot and found quite a variety of locations in an area not much larger than one block- it was a great afternoon of laughs, pretty light, and sky scrapers!

here are a few of our faves:

all of the fountains in georgia are dry because of the drought plaguing the area so we took full advantage! they jumped right in this fountain in an office park for a few shots- it didn’t last long before the security guard came out and informed us they were receiving complaints…COME ON PEOPLE. they are adorable! and HAPPY! or maybe that was the issue…

FINE. we’ll sit on the edge of the fountain! …aaand we were still asked to leave. it was ok, we moved on to bigger & better locations! :)

found a patch of grass big enough to shoot a few sweet little cuddly pictures! as much as they look serious and restful here they were actually totally cracking each other up- tickling, poking, pushing and laughing! :)

gotta love a little architecture! the light was coming through perfectly and when elliot jumped up there we knew they were going to make it awesome- which they promptly did:

then it was on to the parking deck…? matt’s been pushing parking deck shots for quite a while now and we finally found a deck we liked with pretty light and a couple that we realized was going to be completely fine and comfortable no matter if they were in a beautiful wheat field or a parking lot. the conditions were perfect! ;) love the way these next five came out- obviously we’ll be taking full advantage of parking decks in the future!

we were done with the shoot and walking back to our cars when we passed this location and had to stop and take advantage of it! the light was gleaming off the building and they were kind enough to humor us for a few more shots!

february is fun!

there are lots of great things about february coming up- like….um….groundhog day? oh, and valentine‘s day and president‘s day. so while we’ll all, no doubt, be wildly celebratory this month very few people are actually going as far as to tie the knot. we heard when we entered the biz that february would be a slow month but now that it is almost here we’re not totally jazzed about chillin’ for the next 28 days. so what i’m trying to say is this, we want to shoot YOU! YOU, dear reader, it’s YOUR turn! so bundle up or slip back into your wedding dress or grab the baby or the puppy or the roommates, it’s time for a SOLID month of day shoots! we’re totally excited to get creative and stretch ourselves before we dive back into weddings and we’d love for YOU to be a part of it! anything goes this february and we can’t wait to see what you bring! so BRING IT! please? contact us for your day shoot, TODAY!

in other news, yellow bike can’t wait until spring! he’s been boycotting winter by slowly rusting in our bedroom (oh yes, he’s that spoiled, he sleeps in our room). can’t wait for it to warm up so we can steel wool him all clean and hit the streets! yea!

inspiration monday

when matt and i got engaged i was two semesters from finishing school- two rather intense semesters. therefore wedding planning just couldn’t take over my life. it did creep in close- i remember sitting in class mindlessly googling veils while taking notes on french and dutch art of the seventeenth century. but bottom line, i wasn’t steeped in the industry like i am now. these days i am endlessly amazed at the creativity and personality i’ve seen in weddings. ladies bucking traditions that mean little to them and running with new ideas that really represent who they are is just inspiring to see. all of this means a lot of time and energy from the lovely lady in white but it’s so worth it! there are so many amazing resourses out there for brides that i’ve learned about since my own wedding and i want to share a couple of my faves with you:

first up, our good friends ami and rebekah at elizabeth anne designs. i actually was able to meet up with ami this past weekend- what a knowledgable gal! they are always full of bold ideas and inspiration, not to mention eye candy! i used one of their inspiration boards (intended for a wedding) to help decorate my apartment!

next let’s chat about the lovely janie over at the bride’s cafe. i want to give her a quick thanks! for featuring kaney & lewis’s incredible wedding just last week, it’s awesome that she liked those pictures as much as we did! her site is full of beautiful images from real weddings; she is always on the lookout for the latest and greatest to inspire you!

i have so many more favorites but for now i leave you with these, enjoy!
