jessica and mark, i’m in love with your pictures! everyone – check them out here!
i’m unbelievably good at excuses when it comes to working out. i’ve been perfecting this skill since late high school, and really, i’ve arrived! like a lot of other people (i say ‘other people’ to make me feel better) i can’t summon up the motivation to run to a point, turn around, and run back. matt knows that unless there’s a goal (other than toned calves, that doesn’t count to me, i’d rather just wear jeans ;) ) i will immediately have 10,000 (quite valid, after all that practice!) excuses to not go.
what he also knows is that deep down i’m as simple as a little puppy, and if he dangles something out in front of me i’ll follow almost without thinking. this means that matt has gotten creative. he’ll come up with something we need at the grocery store and we’ll walk there, or he’ll mention wanting to look at something particular in the book store and we’ll trek over there (although, not his best idea, he basically has to drag me home after that!), and on sundays the parking is so nuts at our church that he’s convinced me to walk there too. that usually means that almost without realizing it i’ve walked two to three times during the week and with shooting on the weekends (shooting = pilates) i’ve always thought that’s enough.
until recently. lately, i’ve been waking up puffy-eyed and exhausted even after my normal eight hours! i did some research and it sounds like i need to work out more…so matt (and his sedentary lifestyle theory, haha) wins permanently. i’ve asked that no matter what fabulous excuse i come up with that he ignore it and make me do it anyway. what in the world can i tap into for motivation!? um, no idea, i’m searching. but with much creativity gone to waste on reasons why not, we have started our new routine. we’ll see how it goes and of course i’ll keep you posted!
