anna & ray, your wedding day was such a great celebration! i’m excited to post your slideshow!

___

it’s getting chilly out there. even in atlanta. we took yellow bike out last night and it felt like we were cycling through the freezer section at publix. which i’m never, ever, prepared for on grocery day. that is why there is no ice cream in this house. i refuse to walk down that aisle and subject myself to the torture. but anyway, it was just that cold outside last night.

for matt and me, this is the time of year for enjoying the outdoors but coming home to cuddle with a glass of red and a good movie. thanks to you, that is what sunday nights this fall will look like for us. thanks to all of you who, when we were considering it, left comments, emailed and messaged us glowing reviews of the joys of netflix. we love you. and netflix. it’s amazing and so are you.

for those of you out there not yet privy to the joy i speak of, we want you to experience it. netflix kindly sent us vouchers to give four of our friends (that’s you) for a free full month of movies and how perfect is it that you have to sign up before october 31st?! that means that as the weather turns officially into winter in the month of november you’ll have free movies galore to enjoy while the chilly air whistles outside. sound perfect? i think so. if you’re interested please drop a comment below or shoot us an email. we need to get these in the mail asap so waste no time!

also. matt and i seriously need movie ideas. we’re always overwhelmed on the netflix site and we would really really love it if you’d share with us a few good romantic comedies and action flix. although we must be careful with the latter, we can’t even watch 24 without matt demanding justice and speeding the next time he gets in the honda. thanks so much friends!

last saturday was the perfect day for a wedding. the fall air was a little crisp and the sun was kicking through the trees at the gardens at great oaks in roswell, georgia. it was anna and ray’s day- a day they had been waiting seven years for, a day so beautiful they deserved it. they were in high school when it all started; the first date was to stone mountain where they returned years later for a surprise engagement! i always get excited when i meet a couple who has come as far as they have; it bodes so well for a long and happy future. there are no doubts about this couple! here are a few of our favorite shots; let’s start off with anna’s great grandmother’s earrings. she wore them in her hair for her ‘something old,’ and they were stunning. what a creative idea!

the gentlemen:

anna’s mom looks on during her final preparations:

last minute hug and encouragement from her grandmother before walking down the asle:

there were lots of beautiful ladies ready for the bouquet toss:

anna & ray, thank you so much for having us! we loved how calm yet exciting your day was. we so respect your long commitment to each other and we wish you the best for years to come! i am so jealous of your asheville honeymoon, what a perfect choice for this time of year! i’m sure we’ll run into you soon, we look forward to it! congratulations!

mallory and marlon’s southern savannah wedding is up on the gallery page! check them out!

ahhh, it’s fall. i am always uplifted at this time of year- the smells, the colors, the temperature- everything is beautiful…

yesterday i decided that it was fall enough to make granola. i only make it during cooler months and it is everything i love about fall all at once- so i was excited. matt even offered to clean the oven for me while i mixed the batter- what a perfect huz. as i dumped double amounts of every ingredient into my mixing bowl, matt took out his drill to remove every piece of the oven for cleaning. if you got uneasy at the mention of the drill you’re in the majority.

when half of the oven was back in place we decided to try the gas. it seemed to light just fine except for the roaring forest fire noise it was making. i started freaking out and stood there with my hand on the fire extinguisher’s safety tab and the sprayer- ready at a moment’s notice. matt laughed at my paranoia and ridiculousness but ‘a woman’s intuition’ was my response. good one, i know. what i’m sure are my sprouting motherly instincts set in- ‘oven, we are just trying to clean you- why are you making such a scary noise and fighting our attempt to do what’s best for you!?’ it should be a while before we have kids. i digress. anyway, matt assured me the noise was because we didn’t have all of the other pieces in and so we decided to flip the oven off and get it all together before trying it again.

at this point i wasn’t allowing either of us to stand directly in front of the oven, another great mom instinct, clearly it was going to explode. matt dodged in from the side and flipped off the gas but the flame burned on. uh oh. matt crouched down to look closer = i freaked out and made him use the extinguisher. he blasted it with a few short puffs of pressurized baking soda and immediately it looked like it was snowing in our apartment. we opened all of the windows and all of the vents and held tee shirts to our faces while we frantically tried to close our laptops and cover all food before the snow settled. we spent the rest of the day cleaning and calling our landlord since even the oven clock had stopped working. all that to say we headed over to a friend’s house to cook the granola, which i promptly overcooked. no big deal- you can’t really tell after you add the vanilla yogurt and honey so we’re eating it anyway. on the bright side, we now have a really clean apartment to enjoy and the oven guy is coming tomorrow to make our oven even better than it was before. peach crisp, pumpkin bread and apple pie- here we come!
