molly & andrew are married!

By | Weddings | 24 Comments

the second before i walk in to start shooting ‘getting ready’ images i always take a deep breath to calm my nerves- and probably also to fill my lungs with hairspray free air for one last time! this helps prepare me for whatever lies on the other side of the door- usually lots of energetic bridesmaids, a hairstylist, a makeup artist, an abundance of curling irons and usually also (for some reason?) lots of extra pairs of shoes! but last saturday was different. i took my breath and pushed molly’s hotel room door open to find…relaxation. mimosas, ladies in lounge wear, a stunning wedding dress laid out on a pristine white bed and natural light pouring in through sheer curtains. it was serene. THIS was the way molly started her day!

shortly after we arrived andrew and the guys finished up a few holes of golf and matt was able to shoot their brunch at the clubhouse and subsequent lounging around the pool. the weather was perfect and the guys really spent the day enjoying it.

meanwhile, things really kicked into gear for the ladies when the stylists arrived for hair and makeup. a few more bridesmaids were ushered in by molly’s wonderful coordinator and everyone pitched in to help everyone else look perfect! suggestions on eyeshadow colors and hairstyles blended seamlessly with chatting about how excited they were to see old friends at the wedding. overall, the morning seemed to fly by in a haze of happiness!

first up- a sweet dress detail:

LOVE bow ties- so classic! as is this getting ready shot of andrew:

21_green_white_wedding_041809

the natural light cast a cooler light into the room and as molly sat to have her hair done she looked absolutely stunning!

molly & andrew decided to have a ‘first look’ and see each other before the ceremony (YEAY for pictures!) so we chose a private garden for the occasion…

18_green_white_wedding_041809

…or at least we thought it was private! matt and i cracked up when we saw these next images of the bridal parties peeking in on them!

19_green_white_wedding_041809

we walked around with the bridal party and shot all over the surrounding land! it was amazing to have all of the portraits done before the ceremony so everyone could just dive straight into the reception! i love this image of the bridal parties making their way across the lawn:

matt & i couldn’t wait to have some time to make some images with just molly & andrew! as soon as we saw this environment we were in love!

the way molly is looking up at andrew in this images makes my heart melt- so happy to have captured this!

back inside for a quick lipstick touch up before the ceremony. really molly, you are SO beautiful!

12_green_white_wedding_041809

molly & andrew were married at the stunning st. james’ episcopal church in marietta. the interior of the church is so beautiful and bright but they have a pretty strict photography policy- the next image was the very last shot i got off before the doors were closed and i was sent to the balcony:

11_green_white_wedding_041809

but listen, there was this TINY crack between the church doors! matt and i had fun taking turns shooting from the balcony and shooting between the doors downstairs- i love how this ‘between the doors’ shot came out!

10_green_white_wedding_041809

and from the balcony wasn’t so bad either! i love the way all of the maids are focused on the couple in this image. in the front left, in focus, is molly’s younger sister- i wonder what she is thinking here!?

09_green_white_wedding_041809

what happens when matt shoots at 200mm through a crack in a door? you can hardly tell at all that he wasn’t just in the back of the church! love that he was able to capture this one:

08_green_white_wedding_041809

then it was onto the reception at the marietta hotel & conference center! the room was splendidly decked out in green & white- here are just a couple of details we grabbed:

06_green_white_wedding_041809

what could be better than gossiping grandmothers? …NOTHING! love this series!

04_green_white_wedding_041809

molly took the time to dance with her little brother which was so so sweet- i love the sisterly expression in this one:

molly & andrew, it was so great to spend the day with you guys and watch everything come together so perfectly! congratulations on your marriage- we hope you guys enjoyed mexico to the FULLEST! i’m sure we’ll see you around- maybe at a braves game again!? best wishes to you both!

angelyn & michael are married!

By | Weddings | 11 Comments

last saturday we had the pleasure of capturing angelyn & michael’s wedding. everything came together in a beautiful way- from the smiles to the tears to the bright sun overhead, everything was perfect. the ladies started the day with a sweet bridal brunch- sharing memories over fresh waffles topped with blueberry syrup, whipped cream and chopped pecans. they enjoyed their brunch on angelyn’s family’s china- cut their waffles with the family flatware and sipped ina garten’s punch from family glassware. it was a perfectly relaxed way to start her wedding day- surrounded by friends, family and whipped cream- her favorite. :)

16_bridal_brunch_040409

when it came time to start getting ready everyone’s energy level seemed to boost- i guess after enjoying those waffles the sugar was bound to start setting in! between curling irons, hairspray and lip gloss the ladies were ready in no time- seriously, i was impressed at how quickly everyone was ready to jump in a car and head to the church!

then it was time to get dressed. angelyn’s grandmother carefully fastened her pearls around her neck as proud as any grandmother ever has been!

03_atlanta_wedding_photographer_040409

while the ladies finished up- matt had the guys outside exploring the grounds of the church for a few portraits, we liked this one the best:

i love this image of angelyn between her two grandmothers:

the time to walk down the aisle came quickly- here, angelyn and her dad pause just before they started their walk:

05_atlanta_wedding_photographer_040409

we were so excited that angelyn & michael made time for a few creative/relaxed portraits with us after the ceremony! we took a few strides across the parking lot and found a perfect little patch of grass to work with. here are a few of our faves:

then it was back inside for the reception! they started things off with a slideshow of images of them since birth- which usually means for lots of laughter! as the slideshow neared the time when angelyn & michael met it was sweet to see the happiness on the faces of the guests- clearly everyone was proud to be there, supporting their marriage. here is michael’s mom during the slideshow:

one of michael’s groomsmen during the blessing for the food:

toasts were given in honor of the couple and this moment was one of our faves:

13_atlanta_wedding_photographer_040409

after everyone had eaten angelyn and michael greeted each of their guests- catching up with old friends and hugging family members they had not seen in quite a while.

14_atlanta_wedding_photographer_040409

when it was nearing time for angelyn & michael to leave, the guests took handfuls of dried lavender from metal pails to toss as the new couple made their way to their car. they drove off in a storm of lavender and as the scent lingered in the air so did the grins of their guests.

angelyn & michael, thank you so much for including us in your wedding day. we are pumped to see what excitement the coming years bring for you guys as you look to make the move overseas. we wish you both the best, thank you again!

laura & jason are married!

By | Weddings | 19 Comments

laura & jason have had us excited for their future for a long time- everything about them makes us smile! not only have they been together since high school (always so sweet!) but they balance each other out so well. jason is a man’s man, into playing sports as much as watching them while laura is a girl’s girl, smart as they come yet also well versed in celebrity gossip and dance music. love her. ;) as much as we love to get to know our clients ahead of time we always learn so much more about them as a couple on the wedding day. with laura and jason all we heard over and over was that everyone had known they were perfect together for a LONG time and that it was really just about time they start the rest of their lives together!

on the day of their wedding everything was calm -a few small tears of joy were shed- which made the day even more beautiful. everyone was focused on what was about to happen and no one could have been more excited than laura! well, maybe jason, but i spent my day with laura so we’ll go with that. every time she checked the clock a huge smile would spread over her face- after almost eight years of dating, she was so ready to get married!

let’s start things off with this adorable picture of laura touching up her mom’s polish- as much as the wedding day is about the bride, laura took time to care for those close to her and make sure everything was perfect for everyone at the wedding, not just her & jason. it was touching to watch her relax and laugh with her friends and chat with her mom and soon to be sisters and mother in law- thanks to the time she spent with her amazing planners, she had everything organized perfectly before the day and that really allowed her to be intentional and enjoy everything, a great example for every bride!

01_king_plow_032109

one of laura’s bridesmaids, kelly, had the MOST amazing eyes! she was so generous to let me get all up in her space to take this shot- kelly, i hope you agree that it was totally worth it! you look beautiful! :)

02_king_plow_032109

i love how calm and peaceful this image is- laura looks so elegant!

03_king_plow_032109

ok, matt laughed out loud when he saw this next image- which meant it was immediately marked for the blog ;)

04_king_plow_032109

i am obsessed with this portrait of laura. my favorite thing about it is that it is completely candid- she was standing in front of this window casually chatting with her ladies and when we were flipping back through the pictures afterward we were thrilled with this one of just her- i’m pretty sure she is a model. or could be. maybe SHOULD be. just stunning:

05_king_plow_032109

how cute is she holding her dress up like this!? a last minute check before heading out for some portraits:

06_king_plow_032109

we were walking back in from some outdoor portraits when we realized that jason’s two sisters were each helping to hold up laura’s dress- matt jumped up in front of the girls to grab a few shots and this one ended up being one of our favorite shots of the day!

07_king_plow_032109

i’ve talked a lot about laura’s sweet personality and her good looks but now it’s jason’s turn- GQ anyone!?

08b_king_plow_032109

and jason and his gents, seriously a handsome group! i love how matt saw the light here and stopped them to take a few nontraditional portraits. i think these images came out quite manly- at least, if i were a guy, i think i’d feel pretty good about being in this shot:

09_king_plow_032109

laura & jason chose the stunning backdrop of the king plow arts center for their wedding and matt and i were thrilled to be working there! everything about this venue is amazing- from the beautiful (and tasty!) creations of bold american catering, to the unique antiquated plow factory details that this space is known for. before the ceremony started we took the time to capture the stunning decor & details and fell in love with the look of the space as a whole- this shaft of light bolted through the room for just a limited time but the effect was just dreamy:

10_king_plow_032109

…and here it is in action! i will stop my blabbing for a bit during the ceremony images ;)

11_king_plow_032109

12_king_plow_032109

13_king_plow_032109

14_king_plow_032109

ok, i’m back. mostly because i had to mention how much i loved the candle display at the ‘alter.’ all of the different heights of white candles created a stunning patch of light- what a perfect idea!

22b_king_plow_032109

this is my favorite introduction shot ever. EVER. they look like total rockstars and the expressions on their guests faces are priceless:

17_king_plow_032109

18_king_plow_032109

19_king_plow_032109

this picture makes me laugh because i have never seen a more perfectly organized train line in my whole life! laura must be a great leader! ;)

20_king_plow_032109

i expected nothing less than a classy exit from jason & laura and that’s exactly what we got! love them!

21_king_plow_032109
laura & jason, we wish you the very best! thank you so much for allowing us to capture everything- you two, your friends and families made our job such a joy. i know we’ll be seeing you both again, until then, we hope you’re enjoying married life!
