laura & kenny are married!

By | Weddings | 4 Comments

first of all, HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MATT (in 2 hours)! you are my favorite!! excited to start your celebration at breakfast with grandmother’s sausage, egg and cheese casserole!

and speaking of southern goodness…

a couple of weeks ago we had the pleasure of shooting laura & kenny’s wedding at the cloister at sea island. the setting was the perfect picture of a splendid southern affair- complete with moss draped oak trees and a breathtaking sunset over glittering marshes. and though the beauty around us was almost overwhelming, more sweet than all of it was watching laura & kenny, surrounded by a loving and excited group of close friends and family, as they celebrated the beginning of their new life together. it doesn’t get much better than that!

i spent the morning with laura- who is just an awesome person. to be more specific she is down to earth, graceful, witty and so caring of those around her. oh and also, the background soundtrack to her wedding day was a harry potter marathon. i like her style. :)

she is also STUNNING:

laura & kenny decided to see one another before the wedding and chose a sweet spot outside the cloister as the setting. we explored the property there before heading to the church and enjoying the beautiful gardens there, as well. saint simon’s is just such an incredible place to capture two people in love:

laura & kenny said hello to a few of their honored guests before parting ways for some relaxation before the ceremony:

just after the ceremony laura & kenny rounded up their bridal party for a quick trolley ride back to the cloister for the reception. everyone was dropped off at the main entrance and together they all walked out into the sunset and down a little path to the party- the air was full of ooos & ahhs as the sun sank lower over the marsh. it was such a perfect segue from their ceremony into dinner:

and then the dancing started…and didn’t stop! :)

kenny is from new orleans and he and laura love everything about the city! they told us all about the food (of course that’s what i was asking about) at their engagement session and we were drooling by the end of it- so cute, right? anyway, in the spirit of their favorite city the band lead everyone in a rousing rendition of ‘when the saints go marching in’ that included lots of singing, cheering, yelling and raising of glasses. it turned out to be a great way to get all of the guests outside for their exit and laura & kenny left their reception to spirited singing and high fives:

laura & kenny, thank you guys for letting us be part of such a perfect day! we are so thankful that we’ve gotten to know you- you’re an awesome couple and we wish you the very best! and MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

jessica & trevor are married!

we are so thankful for our job. in this season of thankfulness and love and giving we find ourselves more intentionally living each moment and loving every second of it. this is directly related to the insane awesomeness that is: our clients. clients like jess & trevor are the reason we do what we do. spending the day completely immersed in their family and friends was a celebration like no other- we’re not likely to ever forget it. i walked into jess’s hotel room expecting hair and makeup to be in full swing but what i found was a room full of dancing, singing, laughing girls breaking it down to a wedding day mix i would love a copy of (uhhum!?). and the day continued as epic-ly (?) as it began.

first up, a few getting ready shots and a cameo of trevor’s amazing tie:

couple portraits were really important to jess & trevor so they decided to take advantage of the beautiful afternoon light and meet up before the ceremony. trevor grinned as jess walked toward him and when they were finally close enough they both started hugging and kissing and laughing with happiness. we pretty much love them:

dear jess’s bridesmaids, you guys have amazing style:

after some awesome portraits in the woods we all made our way back inside to relax before the ceremony. jess & trevor’s closest friends said prayers for them and it was a sweet time of well wishing and excitement. i love this image matt grabbed of jess & her dad exchanging a few last words before walking down the aisle.

one of my favorite times of each saturday is right after the ceremony as the bridesmaids and groomsmen are walking back down the aisle with huge smiles barely stifling the shrieks (groomsmen, sorry) of happiness and excitement for the new couple. the celebration starts there:

…and continues the rest of the night! jess & trevor were married and had their reception at the atlanta history center– the natural surroundings were perfect for their outdoor ceremony and the classic overlook ballroom was the perfect venue for dancing the night away!

this next set of shots couldn’t be passed up for the blog! jess’s little brother and her beautiful mom:

jessica & trevor, you guys are such a perfect couple! we really loved spending the day getting to know you better and capturing every moment. thank you so much for allowing us to be part of such a wonderful day!

adrienne & ric are married!

By | Weddings | 2 Comments

adrienne & ric make an impression on you the minute you meet them- their love and passion for life and one another is inspiring and so obvious to those around them. they also happen to share a passion for photography, so maybe we’re a bit biased when it comes to how obviously awesome they are… ;) in case you need one more reason to fall for these two let me just give you a peek into their epic engagement story: a blind fold, a web of complex half-truths, a huge yellow hot air balloon and lightly-veiled near-hysteria. it’s a day they look back on with the greatest fondness but also with laughter at ric’s attempts to keep his plan on track as it slowly derailed. if you ever happen to see them around town, definitely stop them and ask for the story- be less creepy by first mentioning this blog post. anyway, no doubt you’re now convinced of their love and perfection as a couple; let us move on to their wedding day! they were married at neverland farms on a crisp fall day under a warm sun- simply lovely! matt spent most of his day laughing with ric and his hilarious older brothers who enjoyed alternating between giving sage advice and sidesplitting laughter:

meanwhile the girls were beautifully calm and serene as they sipped wine and chatted about their many good times with adrienne. they were so sweet to be around and the time slipped by quickly so that before we knew it, it was time for adrienne to meet up with her dad and jump onto the carriage that was to take them to the ceremony.

it was an emotional meeting, adrienne being his baby girl, but both of their excitement was evident through the tears:

the ceremony took place in a sweet garden near their reception site. the guests sipped on mulled wine and turned, smiling, as adrienne & her dad pulled up in the carriage and began to walk down the aisle toward ric:

as adrienne & ric are photographers, they knew ahead of time that they wanted to set aside a good amount of time for couple portraits around the grounds after the ceremony. we traipsed through fields and picked our way along narrow trails capturing the beauty of fall and love together. here are just a few of our faves:

the sun began to set and we headed back for the reception where guests were excited to find the celebration start with a unique twist: a love story. guests gathered around as adrienne & ric put all of the pieces of their relationship together for their closest friends and family. there were many exclamations and cheers and it was a really sweet way to bring everyone together before the dancing broke out:

i love this next set of images of adrienne’s parents breaking it down- they had as much fun celebrating as anyone else!

ric and his brothers surprised the ladies with some serenading:

adrienne & ric, thank you both so much for choosing us to capture this day. everything was as perfect as it could have been and, yet, still so relaxed and celebratory! we wish you the best!
