mary katherine & nick are married!

By | Weddings | One Comment

OH, these two. they’re just more perfect together than you can imagine. sometimes, you see a couple and immediately feel that they…just…FIT. mary katherine & nick are this way. it’s hard for even close family and friends to articulate how deep their bond goes, how well they complement one another and just how happy everyone is to see them begin their own family. their comfort level together is tremendous and they really do move as if, one. they are so aware of one another, but it’s not conscious, it’s seen in small movements and following their eyes, they just understand one another so intimately. but even through this connection, there is a shared love of their families and friends. their wedding day was full of sweet vignettes- little conversations ending in laughs or hugs or eye squinting smiles- such a beautiful picture of their life together. it was such an honor to capture it all.

i love this quick moment of mary katherine with her mom. they are SO close and nick has such a great relationship with his mother-in-law. it really does speak volumes for how well he treats her precious daughter! ;)

mary katherine & nick were married at the wimbish house, a beautiful and intimate space in midtown, atlanta. the mansion, now event space, provides an atmosphere of hanging out in the home of the bride and groom- so perfect for mary katherine & nick’s easy going personalities:

these next images are just moments after the recessional. i love how beautifully and peacefully they soak up their union:

mary katherine & nick share a love of literature and their wedding decor certainly reflected that! she chose some of the novels i cherish most as her table markers. i really do love her for that! they also used old champagne and wine bottles to help set the scene- perfect, since they met across a restaurant’s bar!

towards the end of the night their guests gathered on the front porch of the wimbish house and enjoyed cigars and after dinner cocktails. these are some of our favorite images:

as the sun set, guests trickeld back inside for some dancing and socializing before calling it a night. what a beautiful, smoothly orchestrated wedding day. courtesy of the wonderful, nicole halverson fantz.

mary katherine & nick, you guys are awesome together! we wish you the very best and we are confident that you guys have such an amazing future ahead of you! thank you both so much for allowing us into your lives to capture your moments together. :)

hillary & jon are married!

YOU GUYS. have you ever been to new orleans? because until hillary & jon’s wedding, we had not. and now that we have, we’re in love! and i want to go back already. the food…oh my. i can’t even talk in coherent sentences about it. and then there’s hillary & jon, who we love and adore and call our friends, and what could be better than so many of our favorite things in one place? (besides writing this blog post with a little takeout bag of beignets, obvs.) nothing. so, here we go!

hillary & jon warned us about new orleans- they prepared us for the oppressive heat and rich, delicious, addicting foods. what we were not expecting was the rain. it POURED for at least a portion of every day we were there. not to be daunted, we splashed around the city, ducking into cafes and bakeries ‘when it was raining too hard’ (read: whenever we felt like a pastry). we spent two days getting to know the city and meeting some wonderfully colorful people. by the time hillary & jon’s wedding day arrived we couldn’t wait to pour all of our love for hillary’s home town right into their images.

the beautiful lake pontchartrain:

hillary & jon were married in the chapel of st. martin’s episcopal school, where hillary attended as a child. i love that she decided to start this next chapter of her life in such a meaningful, nostalgic environment.

hillary & jon’s reception was held at the new orleans museum of art– such a stunning setting for their party! they brought in dramatic lighting and bold florals to complete the effect. just before the wedding day, a huge paper installation was set up in their main reception space. it wasn’t at all what hillary had in mind for the centerpiece for her wedding reception but she good-naturedly rolled her eyes and accepted it. really, in looking back over the images, the way their lighting played off the paper made it look like it could have been part of the plan all along. no harm done!

dancing portraits! ;)

hillary & jon snuck away from their guests for a few couple portraits around the museum:

for their send-off at the end of the night, hillary & jon’s friends and family tossed handfulls of dried lavender. it was such a beautiful experience. the air smelled so sweet and floral- i know they’ll always feel bliss whenever they smell lavender from now on. i love the thought of that so much:

hillary & jon, thanks so much for having us! we had such a wonderful time capturing your wedding day and celebrating with you. we wish you guys the very best!

Hannah & Nick are Married – Smithonia Farm Wedding

By | Weddings | 7 Comments

Hannah & Nick had the most perfect southern wedding. There was intricate lace, sweet iced tea, dreamy pastures and golden sunlight- and of course, plenty of hugs and smiles to go around! Oh, and there were popsicles, which is totally awesome but i’ll get to that later. We arrived at Hannah & Nick’s wedding a little earlier than we scheduled to start shooting so that we could scout out the property. We were so excited to notice the amount of time scheduled for couple portraits and we wanted to take full advantage of the beautiful venue Hannah chose! After making a few mental notes of locations to return to later, we returned to find hannah, reclining with her best friends, chatting away and enjoying a light lunch. The chill, fun vibe of the day was set!

The temperature climbed up to 97 degrees as we finished up bridal party and family portraits outside so it was quite a relief to hang out around the huge fans running inside. I love these images of Nick as he cooled off and relaxed before the ceremony:

When the time came for couple portraits we couldn’t wait to get started! Hannah & Nick are such naturals- they rocked every location and pose direction we threw at them! These are some of my favorite portraits ever, so classic:

KING OF POPS! Yes, please. What a perfect treat for a warm summer wedding!

Hannah & Nick, congratulations! You guys had an awesome wedding; thank you so much for having us. Hope you’re loving married life!
