baby jayci!

i met becca in college. she was a few years older than me and awesome which meant i immediately wanted to be like her. we were friends. i remember her encouraging me during a rough stage of my life and how she led by example- overcoming when life threw a bit of discouragement her way. i remember spring break my freshman year when her fiancé adam sent her flowers to our beach house in florida- i knew i wanted to one day be in a relationship like that. when becca and adam were married it was an awesome day and it made me realize how unique and personal (and stylish!) weddings could be. when becca told me she and adam were having a baby we immediately made plans for a little photo shoot. having never photographed a little one before i was totally nervous for, oh, nine months. baby photography takes a special someone and i dove in blind, shocker. moving on. the one and only baby jayci was born september 17, 2008 and i had the great pleasure of meeting her just twelve days later for a couple of pictures. even though this was more of a personal shoot i wanted to share a couple with you- meet the lovely stanley clan

LOVE our clients!

the other day i was not having the best of days; even matt’s ridiculous expressions were not working their magic. nothing seemed to be going right and on top of it all matt wouldn’t let me out of the crazy workout he had planned- not even when i suggested that throwing up might just happen. how did it not work? was that not the grossest threat i could have made?! i digress. all that to say, it was exactly what i needed when this email appeared in our inbox from one of our recent clients. as we don’t have a testimonials page on our site i just decided to share this here:

we love our clients; they are why we love what we do. spending our weekends capturing real life, real emotion and real intimacy makes us tick. how refreshing to be reminded of that. what a good evening it was!

inspiration monday

when matt and i got engaged i was two semesters from finishing school- two rather intense semesters. therefore wedding planning just couldn’t take over my life. it did creep in close- i remember sitting in class mindlessly googling veils while taking notes on french and dutch art of the seventeenth century. but bottom line, i wasn’t steeped in the industry like i am now. these days i am endlessly amazed at the creativity and personality i’ve seen in weddings. ladies bucking traditions that mean little to them and running with new ideas that really represent who they are is just inspiring to see. all of this means a lot of time and energy from the lovely lady in white but it’s so worth it! there are so many amazing resourses out there for brides that i’ve learned about since my own wedding and i want to share a couple of my faves with you:

first up, our good friends ami and rebekah at elizabeth anne designs. i actually was able to meet up with ami this past weekend- what a knowledgable gal! they are always full of bold ideas and inspiration, not to mention eye candy! i used one of their inspiration boards (intended for a wedding) to help decorate my apartment!

next let’s chat about the lovely janie over at the bride’s cafe. i want to give her a quick thanks! for featuring kaney & lewis’s incredible wedding just last week, it’s awesome that she liked those pictures as much as we did! her site is full of beautiful images from real weddings; she is always on the lookout for the latest and greatest to inspire you!

i have so many more favorites but for now i leave you with these, enjoy!
