jennifer & morgan are married!

one of the reasons we love our job is that no two weddings are alike! no two couples have the same personality, aesthetic or vision- they keep us energized and looking for ways to capture the essence of each day. one of the ways we do this is by really listening to the words each couple uses to describe their day- words like ‘vintage & eclectic,’ ‘modern & clean’ or ‘glamorous & chic’ provide us with different lenses through which to view the day. though we don’t deviate from our own style of capturing an image, we do allow ourselves to lean in the direction of the bride and groom so we can do our absolute best to capture their personalities in each image we make. all this to say- when we found out jennifer’s wedding was gatsby inspired she immediately had us viewing the day through the inspiration of new york in the 1920s. we wanted to create images that were soft, opulent and classic and as soon as we walked into the ritz and saw jennifer’s sweet smile and sparkling eyes we knew it would be perfect. her quiet excitement was sweet yet passionate and i couldn’t help but believe that her classic beauty was really from another era.

and the dapper groom- complete with bow tie and a feather in his lapel:

i love these next images of jennifer and her pearls- just a hint of what was to come at the reception and the perfect compliment to her dark falling curls and glamorous makeup.

the ceremony and reception were held at the ritz carlton, with steve bales expertly flipping the room from an intimate ceremony to a decadent reception- tables overflowing with feathers, blooms, candlelight, pearls and a touch of white fur. gatsby would have been impressed.

jennifer & morgan entered to cheers and applause before dancing the night away in style! HUGE props to morgan for promising jennifer that, even though he doesn’t love dancing, he would dance with her at least half of the evening- what a sweet groom! though, he clearly had tons of fun keeping that promise!

and, just like that, the night was at an end. they exited from the ballroom to handfuls of white petals tossed by their closest friends and family- a dreamy way to end a beautiful day!

jennifer & morgan, thank you so much for having us! your wedding was beautiful and a joy to capture. we wish you both the very best!

there are so many of you, out there in the blog world, that i feel like i know so well but i’ve never met! we exchange blog comments, facebook comments, tweets, emails, gchats and everything and yet- i’ve never actually had the pleasure of laughing with you in person. so when we do get the chance to finally meet it really makes my day! adrienne is one of these lovely people that i’ve been online friends with since long ago- waay before she was engaged! she’s a creative herself- a photographer to be exact- and a photography teacher! she takes sweet pictures of little teeny babies and families while at the same time inspiring the next generation of photogs during her day job- wow! so when i got her message about her own wedding photos i jumped right on it- no doubt working with her would be awesome. and let’s not forget her fiance- ric! any guy who can keep up with her must be a rockstar, right? um, of course. when we met up with them for their engagement pics we found out he’s actually a photographer too- perfect! anyway, shooting the two of them was great- MEETING the two of them was also great! and by two i mean, three- they brought their pup lucy! how sweet is this little family!?:

i mean, don’t you just look at this next picture and feel like you could just sit down and share a meal with these two? so down to earth, fun and relaxed:

lucy got a tiny bit protective of her parents when we got too close and threatening with our cameras- she kept us in check, haha:

dynamite. i was going to say that this next one was my favorite but then i scrolled down to confirm that and got all torn- so i’m NOT naming a favorite but we’ll just leave it with- i really like this next one:

as the sun fell lower and mixed with the pollen in the air it created a beautiful haze over the park giving the final few images a dreamy quality. it felt good to use the pollen to our advantage since it’s been wreaking havoc on our sinuses and mental well-being for weeks now! so, take THAT pollen:

adrienne & ric, we’re so honored you’ve chosen us to capture this time in your lives! you guys were a joy to work with and we are so excited for your wedding! wonderful to meet you (FINALLY.)! please tell lucy that our baby stella says hello! :)

jennifer & rob are married!

every year, when spring wedding season rolls around, matt & i find ourselves with a renewed joy- the trees are covered in buds, the sun is warming (our cars are GREEN with pollen) and we’re able to look ahead at all of the wonderful couples we’ll be spending our weekends celebrating. so this year, when the february fog ended and we looked at the calender, seeing jennifer & rob’s names brought smiles to our faces. it’s rare to see a rehearsal dinner on our schedule but there it was- meaning we were going to spend two days in a row capturing their celebration! we enjoyed their rehearsal dinner so much- the toasts were incredible (half were full length poems!), their friends and families mingled easily and the love and support was crystal clear. a beautiful evening.

so when we showed up for their wedding the next morning we were as excited as anyone else for jennifer & rob to start the rest of their life together! well, almost as excited as everyone else- there has never been a bride in the history of brides as excited as jennifer. you guys, i’m serious. she was so calm and cool on the outside but the bubbling excitement on the inside kept overflowing into secret smiles, little giggles and a few times, squeals  & jumping- cutest thing ever! but mostly, there was a solid feeling of ‘meant to be,’ as the time grew closer. but before i get all carried away (or, even further carried away ;)) let’s get to the images:

i love how calm and peaceful these first two pairings are. jennifer is naturally a very graceful person- even when she’s just sitting to have her makeup done or putting on jewelry:

we haven’t included a macro shot in a while and since i love them so much, let’s get back to it! i am so happy with how dramatic this one came out- the inky blacks in the beautiful setting give the diamonds such a stunning glisten!

jennifer loves pink, so naturally:

meanwhile, the gents were arriving ready to get this thing started! i love this series matt captured of rob’s dad (and best man) helping him into his jacket. we could tell from the second we arrived to their rehearsal dinner that rob & his dad have an awesome relationship and we were excited to be able to capture more of it on the wedding day!

really, i think i could write a little paragraph on these two families and how much i respect how sweet and loving everyone is to one another! instead, i’ll leave you with these images of jennifer’s dad seeing her for the first time. he complimented her so specifically- i know that sounds strange but it really said so much about their relationship that he mentioned not only how beautiful she looked but also how perfect the buttons were down the back and the way the fabric fell, almost like water. there wasn’t a dry eye in the room:

then it was time! jennifer & rob were married at peachtree road united methodist church– such a stunning place to be married:

from there we drove just down the street to their reception at the atlanta history center, one of the most beautiful backdrops in the city! we had some time with just jennifer & rob before they were introduced and we are so glad we did! i love how these portraits have such a timeless quality to them- jennifer & rob rocked it for sure!

the reception was a party! i really believe the rest of these images tell the story so clearly- i won’t even comment between them:

jennifer & rob, i know i’m the 23459080th person to tell you this but- you guys are perfect together. we are so thrilled to have been part of such an amazing day and we wish you the very best!
