jessica & trevor are married!

we are so thankful for our job. in this season of thankfulness and love and giving we find ourselves more intentionally living each moment and loving every second of it. this is directly related to the insane awesomeness that is: our clients. clients like jess & trevor are the reason we do what we do. spending the day completely immersed in their family and friends was a celebration like no other- we’re not likely to ever forget it. i walked into jess’s hotel room expecting hair and makeup to be in full swing but what i found was a room full of dancing, singing, laughing girls breaking it down to a wedding day mix i would love a copy of (uhhum!?). and the day continued as epic-ly (?) as it began.

first up, a few getting ready shots and a cameo of trevor’s amazing tie:

couple portraits were really important to jess & trevor so they decided to take advantage of the beautiful afternoon light and meet up before the ceremony. trevor grinned as jess walked toward him and when they were finally close enough they both started hugging and kissing and laughing with happiness. we pretty much love them:

after some awesome portraits in the woods we all made our way back inside to relax before the ceremony. jess & trevor’s closest friends said prayers for them and it was a sweet time of well wishing and excitement. i love this image matt grabbed of jess & her dad exchanging a few last words before walking down the aisle.

one of my favorite times of each saturday is right after the ceremony as the bridesmaids and groomsmen are walking back down the aisle with huge smiles barely stifling the shrieks (groomsmen, sorry) of happiness and excitement for the new couple. the celebration starts there:

…and continues the rest of the night! jess & trevor were married and had their reception at the atlanta history center– the natural surroundings were perfect for their outdoor ceremony and the classic overlook ballroom was the perfect venue for dancing the night away!

katie & ryan are engaged!

we first met katie at jct on a warm, sunny afternoon. she told us about her wonderful fiance, ryan, and we talked about their lives and their wedding. and even though she knew it was way too hot at the time, katie was already excited about setting up a shoot for the fall to take some pretty engagement photos to use for their save the dates. i like (and envy!) a girl who can plan ahead! it is impossible not to catch her energy and excitement- we knew right away that we’d love to work with them! so once everything was official we set to finding the perfect date for their engagement photos. when that day came, it poured. we rescheduled. the rescheduled date came; it poured. but it stopped in time so we decided to go for it! we arrived at the location to find soft sunlight glittering off of the wet leaves and really, it couldn’t have been more beautiful. katie & ryan arrived looking quite adorable and we got straight to it:

just after taking the golden image above, a black cloud rolled in and rain began to fall. we could hear the rush of rain coming before it hit us so we said quick goodbyes and ran for our cars. when we were finally shut up in our cars the pounding rain turned into hail and we couldn’t help but laugh at the sudden change in our surroundings- oh atlanta!

katie & ryan, you guys are awesome. i am so glad the weather held out for this shoot and i hope you find the perfect shot for your save the dates! looking forward to your wedding!

tomorrow matt & i run our first half marathon. i’ll be honest with you, dear friends, and admit that i have not told you this sooner because i did not want your accountability in case i chickened out. ;) and i may still. we’ve been hydrating like camels for the last few days and we’ve even dropped our morning coffee and shared glass of wine with dinner (which is probably bad for my heart, right..right??) in favor of water…yumm…complements my rich fall cooking so well!!

anyway, besides our obvious food and beverage hangups, we are actually really excited. our first (and only) race together so far was a 5k in the spring and we’ve seen so much progress in our training since then. matt, being a natural, has been amazingly encouraging to me and no matter how hard of a time i give him for his matt-style motivational techniques, he is always pushing me to be better and modeling that by pushing himself as well. we’ve trained for this thing together and there is no way i’d be running this half (or probably at all) if he hadn’t figured out a way for us to stick together. he carefully plans routes where he can add extra little vignettes for himself while i can stick to the main course where he’ll shortly meet back with me to run together. he’s mastered training at his pace while also running with me at mine- i think that defies a few science laws. bottom line, he is the best.

just wanted to give a HUGE THANK YOU to everyone who has been so motivating! family, friends & clients have been so full of advice and encouragement- thank you so so much!

now, off we go for a big lunch at mary mac’s tea room followed a few short hours later by a pasta & gatorade dinner, wish us luck! :)
