krystina & brian are married!

i really do love the way our workflow plays out- matt does initial sorting & rawing, we separately choose our favorites and i edit them all. the images that overlapped are our ultimate favorites and end up on the blog. it makes sense, right? it…works! MOST of the time.

enter krystina & brian and their awesome wedding day. and ONE HUNDRED overlapping favorite images. a record. we agonized over cutting it down to these 77. yes, this post is going to be THAT long. but i just know you’ll find krystina & brian as compelling as we did! there was so much…life!…to their wedding day. spending the morning with krystina and her best friends was great- every word and action was filled with emotion- be it happiness, love or surprise! it was easy to feel comfortable capturing someone as genuine as krystina- she has such a confidence and wit and no one is ever in doubt as to exactly what she is thinking. she is passionate about her friends and her family and her love for brian is so apparent. but more on that later- we’ve got to start scrolling through these images or we’ll be here all day! i love this sequence matt captured of brian tying a groomsmen’s tie:

a little anonymous introduction to the lovely krystina:

and an equally mysterious introduction to brian:

i just love this series of krystina and her dad as they waited their turn to walk down the aisle. they laughed and talked and fought back tears as they watched their family and bridal party take their places- their relationship really is so special:

one of my favorite images i’ve ever taken:

here comes the groom!

these next three images were all taken while one of krystina & brian’s sweet friends was reading a passage to them- i love the expressions in all of the images, we couldn’t pick just one!

krystina’s parents:

as their recessional played and krystina & brian walked back down the aisle, they didn’t take their eyes off of one another- love these:

krystina & brian broke away from the celebration long enough for a few quiet moments for couple photos around lake lanier- and we are so glad they did:

i’m obsessed with this image- their classic good looks, the colors, the overall feeling…

when we arrived back at the reception everything looked beautiful! krystina’s decor suited their wedding day at lake lanier islands resort perfectly:

the next 14 images are from krystina & brian’s first dance. it was awesome. krystina has been dancing from a very young age and her love and talent shows in these images. what impressed us was brian’s ability to keep up with her! their dance was choreographed, i think, but their excitement and happiness really made it seem so natural- they’re just adorable:

i just feel like i should stop and applaud all over again!

these next few frames are from the thoughtful (and emotional) toasts given by so many of their friends and family members:

and then on to dancing!

someone organized a flash mob. you read that correctly. first, just a few girls seemed to know a dance to a certain song and then a few more jumped in and then even more! before we knew it the dance floor was packed! i love all of the expression in this frame from their dance:

krystina & brian, thank you guys so so much for asking us to be part of your wedding day. you guys are such a beautiful couple and capturing you, together, on this perfect day was such a joy for us. best wishes!

krystina & brian, the photobooth!

photobooth images never fail to make us laugh out loud! i know that puts a lot of pressure on these next few images but i’m not too concerned- because when you get as many awesome people in one place as krystina & brian did on their wedding day, these things happen:

wedding images to follow, soon! :)

megan & sean are married!

By | Weddings | 5 Comments

returning to athens always puts a spring in my step! it’s the town where matt and i met and were married. it’s a town full of charm, delicious food, interesting people and good music. so for us, it’s always fun to return to our old stomping grounds and enjoy it with new friends- this time it was with megan & sean! most of their wedding took place at a venue completely new to both matt and me, the hill. it’s a home during the week and a wedding venue on the weekends (i can’t even begin to imagine how much work that must be!) and is surrounded by big, ancient trees and patches of bright flowers- beautiful! we would have been completely happy shooting all of our images on the property but we were also excited to hear that megan & sean were planning for a midday downtown athens excursion for a few photos- we’ll never say no to a stroll around north campus! :)

anyway, i’m way way ahead of myself. let’s start with megan & sean’s first look at the hill- everything was perfect- from the warm breeze to the moment when megan walked from the main house to meet sean. she waited for just a second inside the back door in the cool shade before walking into a patch of blazing sunlight- the way the light struck her made it hard to see anything else- it was just magical:

and for the rest of the day smiles NEVER left their faces! seriously, megan & sean were so obviously happy, almost giddy!, to be together; it was such a blessing to photograph them. matt and i decided later that we’ve never spent a wedding day with a more laid back couple- every single moment was enjoyed and cherished- and nothing could distract them from one another.

downtown athens! love:

you’ve got to be a pretty hardcore athens fan to know where this next shot was taken- and if you do know, i’m sure you’re laughing with us! ;)

back to the hill. isn’t this a beautiful front porch?

megan & sean set aside time for an intimate signing of a ketubah, a traditional jewish pre-wedding commitment. since they are not jewish, they had a special ketubah written for them, inspired by jewish tradition and incorporating their personal religious views. it was such a sweet time of prayer, tears and excitement as they took turns signing and talking about the text.

while the ladies relaxed and enjoyed their time together, the guests began to arrive. and what better way to be greeted on a sunny afternoon than with a sweet tea or refreshing lemonade? good call, megan & sean:

since the ceremony was on the back lawn and the reception was on the front lawn, guests slowly made their way through the beautiful grounds, chatting and laughing, taking their time to enjoy the enviornment. everything about megan & sean’s day was so relaxed and natural- everyone had a great time!

just outside of the reception tent hung a little chandelier over a table stacked high with cookies, cupcakes, pies and all kinds of treats! accompanied by little shots of milk, of course- it was a popular spot:

megn & sean, what a beautiful celebration! we are so glad we were able to be a part of the day. best wishes to you!
