heather & trey are married!

By | Weddings | No Comments

sometimes it just seems like there is too much wedding inspiration to absorb, incorporate, diy- etc and it’s easy to feel a sense of fatigue or frustration set in as you mindlessly flip through beautiful image after beautiful image on the glossy pages of a magazine or the endless scrolling that is: pinterest (or maybe that’s just my own experience??). while it’s true there is probably always something else that could be done, it’s also true that having the perfect wedding for you means focusing on a few key things- and those change for every couple. it seems best to figure out your nonnegotiables, focus on making those exactly what you want them to be, and then close the computer and enjoy your wedding! a couple of weeks ago we shot a wedding in one of our second-home cities, athens, and it was one of the most beautiful days of fun, energy, smiles and love that i’ve ever been a part of! heather & trey know each other- they know each other’s personalities, priorities and hearts. their day was overflowing with what was most important to them- which, translated, means spending all of their time and energy surrounded by friends and family having the best day of their lives. :) i’ve rarely seen two people so connected and so in their element and comfortable on their wedding day. heather & trey are so naturally engaging and their energy and excitement is so infectious that not a moment of celebration was lost! matt and i found ourselves just as caught up in the celebration as the guests, and we feel so blessed to have been a small part of their perfect wedding!

heather’s cousin’s boyfriend (i hope i have that right!) is a classical pianist and he spent a few minutes playing while the girls were getting ready. so calming and inspiring!

heather stuck with her trademark curls for her wedding day- i loved her natural look!

while the girls sipped champagne at the beautiful, new, hotel indigo, the guys hung out at the rooftop bar at the legendary georgia theatre– classy in the classic city.

heather is stunning.

i love this image of heather and her sweet mom- they have so much fun together!

after a few portraits at the hotel, everyone headed across the street to the foundry for the ceremony:

somehow, trey’s wedding ring was left at the hotel and they quickly improvised with heather’s dad’s college ring! but the MOMENT the ceremony ended one of heather’s bridesmaids flew back to the hotel to get the ring and it was on trey’s finger just minutes after the ceremony ended!

back at hotel indigo, guests gathered in the rialto room ready to cheer on the newlyweds the moment they walked through the doors!

i love this emotional image from heather and her dad’s dance:

heather & trey, you two are so perfect for one another! we had so much fun on your wedding day- thank you so much! we wish you the very best! go dawgs!!

sheri & brad are married!

we are often asked about our interaction with the infamous ‘bridezillas’ and we feel so blessed to not be able to speak to that phenomenon. we’ve worked with some seriously incredible couples over the years and i can easily say that we’ve yet to work with a bridezilla. in fact, we’ve worked with several brides who’ve been the calming and soothing voice when friends or relatives started to show their nerves. because we do find ourselves in the middle of one of the most emotional, life changing days of a person’s life, it is always interesting to me to capture the bride as the ceremony draws near and this reality begins to really sink in. one of the most special moments i’ve ever been a part of was the moment sheri realized that all she wanted before walking down the aile was a quiet moment with the love of her life. she had the presence of mind, amidst the emotions of the day, to put down her schedule (gasp!), clear out her room (except for us!) and spend some intentional, quiet time enjoying her excitement, love and joy with brad. it was so sweet to witness their deep connection and realize how perfect these calming moments were for sheri & brad. they took a few deep breaths and spoke quietly and when the time came to leave for their ceremony, they were both refreshed and energized and excited to begin the rest of their day together! just beautiful!

we were so excited when sheri & brad told us about their wedding venue, the temple. not only is it beautiful but the history is so rich and layered with love and unity- what a perfect place to begin their new life together!

after the ceremony, sheri & brad snuck away with us for a few couple portraits in and around their reception venue, the georgian terrace. i especially loved this first location that matt scouted earlier on their wedding day- stairs fading into nothingness might be my new favorite thing! :)

oops! nevermind. maybe this location is my favorite. did they rock this or what??

sheri & brad’s reception was such a sweet time- they rarely left each other’s sides and these smiles never left their faces- what a joyful evening!

sheri & brad, you guys are so perfect together! we feel so blessed to have been part of your beautiful wedding celebration. we wish you the very best and we can’t wait to see your images from france! :)

kathryn & lindsay are married!

kathryn & lindsay’s wedding day began, for us, quite differently than most- we enjoyed a leisurely lunch with my family! since their wedding was in greenville- matt, stella and i were able to arrive a little early and stop in at my parent’s house before wedding day shooting began- what fun! actually, my parents are the ones that originally introduced us to kathryn & lindsay-  we first met kathryn at the airport when we arrived to pick my mom up from a mission trip to nicaragua [where, i think, kathryn was officially adopted as a second daughter ;)] and lindsay we met one morning visiting my parent’s church in greenville. matt and i finally got to spend some quality one on one time with kathryn & lindsay just a week before their wedding and we feel so blessed to have gotten to know them! we enjoyed a delicious dinner and followed it up with a stroll over to their wedding venue to peek around. kathryn & lindsay are so easy to feel comfortable around- they are down to earth and fun and laid back- it’s no wonder that their wedding day was packed with thrilled relatives and friends! seeing these two together just makes you smile- in fact, i’m smiling as i write this, i just can’t help it! see for yourself:

it took about one second for an impromptu challenge to turn into an intense race straight at the camera- complete with wipe-outs! ;)

you try kissing, while walking, while holding champagne- there’s no way i could make it look this natural! ;)

kathryn has the most radiant smile- she really does light up a room! the rest of the night i never saw it leave her face. :)

kathryn & lindsay, congratulations! we feel so blessed to have captured such a beautiful wedding day- we wish you the very best!
