let me see if i can get this right. chanmi is from kenya. huascar is from bolivia. they are both korean, chanmi lives in new york. huascar lives in new jersey. they met in atlanta. they were married in atlanta… i’m really only positive about that last thing. ;)
meeting up with these two and hearing their story was incredible and inspiring- it’s a story like none i’ve heard before and it should probably become a movie. i know it may sound cheesy, but when we meet a couple so obviously perfect for one another- who came very close to never meeting- i still get goose bumps. life is beautiful.
matt photographed their lovely western ceremony followed by a sweet brunch capped off with a korean ceremony that oscillated between intimate and sweet, and silly and fun. which, now that i actually type that, describes these two perfectly. :) here a few of our favorites from their day:
chanmi & huascar, best wishes to you! thank you so much for allowing matt to capture your celebration! :)
Katie & Tom live in Chicago, they were married in Atlanta, and celebrated with a karaoke band from Canada. They are very much in love with one another, their friends, and life in general, and the aura of happiness around them pulled everyone into their celebration. Also, karaoke was a fantastic idea, why haven’t we seen that before? I couldn’t help but laugh as we worked through these photos in preparation for sharing them here- there were just so many amazing moments during their day and it started with their very closest friends, a couple mimosas, and plenty of smiles and encouragement.
Why didn’t I wear a blue suit for my wedding? Gentlemen take note:
We love shooting at the Atlanta Contemporary Art Center. The mix of modern and industrial is nice and the possibilities with the space are endless! Katie & Tom made it their own by adding a backdrop and incorporating more blue and natural details inside- look for more details later in the post.
Family style- such a sweet and intimate way to serve your guests. Since this reception felt like everyone was one big family- it was perfect to serve dinner this way. Love it.
Check out this little isolated spot for a few more couple portraits- I love how soft and peaceful these look.
Meanwhile, rockaraoke was in full swing! The band had a list of songs (tons and tons of songs) that they could play so when you went up to sing you were accompanied by a full band- everyone is a rockstar!
Katie & Tom, congratulations! We are so happy for you two and thank you for allowing us to capture such a beautiful day.
i’m sitting here stumped, trying to decide where to even start with these two. matt and i have so much respect for them- their passion for helping, encouraging and supporting others seems limitless, their energy and happiness is contagious, and they are just so much fun to be around! we share their love of great food, great drinks and great times surrounded by our favorite people- which makes their very special wedding day one of our favorite to date! matt and i got married lots of years ago, when we were really young and pretty clueless about weddings, but if we were to get married now our celebration would look pretty close to exactly like caitlin & wes’s day. they supported some of our very favorite atlanta businesses and had an awesome time in the process- perfect! they started their day early in the morning by running a race together to raise money for the winship cancer institute at emory, what a beautiful start to their marriage. these two are just the best!
i really love this next image of caitlin- she is stunning! -she is also kind, strong, passionate and smart and i think this image captures it all. :)
as the sun set during caitlin & wes’s wedding, a beam of light traveled up through the congregation, illuminating everything in it’s path. by the end of the ceremony it was resting on caitlin & wes- the beauty of those final few moments of their ceremony was not lost on anyone. :)
caitlin & wes celebrated their marriage at monday night brewery– the perfect spot for a relaxed, awesome party. this was the first wedding reception we’ve photographed in their space and i highly recommend it to anyone looking to serve their guests delicious, carefully crafted brews in a comfortable, post-industrial environment. you should also serve gelato sandwiches because, well, they are the most wonderful treat ever and they are also carefully crafted in atlanta- by honeysuckle gelato and the cookie studio. and before the sandwiches, you should definitely serve the best bbq in atlanta. are you starting to get a feel for how awesome this day was??
recognize these two? we photographed caitlin’s sister’s wedding almost two years ago! it was awesome to see so many familiar faces!
wes, speedskater:
caitlin & wes, thank you both so much for having us! we had a great time capturing all of the beautiful moments of your celebration- what a great day it was! happy marriage!
