sometimes, i post

hey guys! (it’s matt). with kate up here posting like crazy i figure it’s about time for me to make my 2nd appearance on the altmix blog. sadly we don’t have any new images to post but i do want to address something i came across in the past week or so- a camera lens.

now this isn’t just any camera lens for a digital slr, but the most ridiculous lens that there has ever been. (the image below is thanks to engadget)

sigma.jpg

i mean, doesn’t that camera look like a flee that managed to hang onto the back of that green beast?! sigma (is there any question as to who created this thing?) has recently unveiled their 500 mm f 2.8 lens for a staggering 25k- yeah, $25,000! evidently sigma is the first ever to offer a 500 mm lens with a super wide 2.8 aperture. even still, who in their right mind would buy such a thing. not i. and for the majority of you who have no idea what i’m talking about, this lens can take really good pictures from reeeeally far away- thats all you need to know. but if you want more, here’s the link.

on another note be sure to check the website in the next couple days if you’re interested in seeing some more of the shots from this past weekend with sally and andrew. we’ve got some great ones and we promise to have the new album up in the gallery by friday!

we’re also really excited about this coming weekend as we’ll be shooting an engagement session for another awesome couple, bonnie and david. and this is why they’re awesome: they’re registered at rei- because for their honeymoon they’re going to through-hike the appalachian trail!!! yeah, that is amazing… if you want to learn more about these guys here is a link to their great wedding website, davidandbonnie2008!

hope everyone is having a great week and we can’t wait to talk with you soon!

sally & andrew are engaged!

it’s impossible to explain how music can so perfectly portray love, but as sally and andrew sang together in the park on saturday, i saw it. we kept our cameras tight to our eyes as andrew strummed and he and sally sang softly about their faith, their love, and their hope. they finished with a beautiful song they wrote together, barely able to take their eyes off each other and smiling the whole time. sigh :)

we had a great time with sally and andrew. they are infectiously fun and in love; our high energy shoot was more like a play date than an engagement session! here are a few of our faves:

i just cannot post another word without expressing how grateful matt and i are for our families, friends, and clients. starting this business would have been impossible without their unwavering support. so many of you have trusted us with your weddings this upcoming year; we are so blessed by your confidence in our passion. we talk about you guys a lot, how unique each couple is, how we feel like we are making friends not clients, and how amazing this upcoming year is shaping up to be. blog readers, thank you so so much for reading and to those of you who leave comments, thank you a million! it is so great to know that other people (besides me!) are having fun with this blog! love to you all.

saturday, after melissa and will’s engagement session (check out their new slideshow here!!), we rounded up some old friends for dinner. there is something about eating good food with excellent friends that makes pulling together three tables in an overcrowded restaurant (a little) less embarrassing. it was so wonderful to be around people i spent such a special time of my life with. the bond we have will always be strong and around them i will always feel relaxed and loved. here are a few of matt’s fabulous shots:

just because i promised it, here’s a little shout-out to my hubby for making my birthday amazing! i fuzzily remember parts of the birthday song around midnight; luckily matt understands that for me repeating it a few more times when i’m awake is a great idea too! you’ve heard that the way to a girl’s heart is through her stomach, i wish that weren’t true, but alas, it works every time. matt’s big breakfast (all ready before i had to leave at 7:30 am!) was a delicious way to start the day! when we reconvened at the apartment around 6:00 to get ready for dinner, matt had beautiful flowers and presents! we headed out to ONE Midtown Kitchen where we shared one of the most complex and thoughtful meals i’ve ever had, and i’m only referring to the food. we talked forever just like we always have about our dreams, our goals, and this year added reminiscing over our first five months of marriage. it was such a great birthday, and baby, you’re the best!
