the unveiling…

spring has arrived at our house! i spent a few hours yesterday replacing cinnamon sticks with dried lavender, and buying some small glass vases to hold the rosemary and sage sprigs i picked at an abandoned house a few streets over. we’re hoping to coax a few roots out and plant them in little pots on our window sill soon. the apartment smells sweet and fresh, complimenting the recent transformation brought on by the new painting. yes, that’s right! i did it! i took a quick shot of it to share with you:

as you might have picked up on by now, matt is the brain of this operation. :) my husband never ceases to amaze me with new computer tricks and gadgets. for a few months he’s been bugging me about something called google reader. i tend to brush off internet applications, especially when i already have a system, it works, and i understand it. in this case matt was particularly adamant it would change my life, so i finally gave it a shot. and now i’m obsessed. get google reader, it will change your life. enter the blogs you check and as soon as there’s a new post on any of them it alerts you! i love it, it saves tons of time, and it’s simple and easy. do it. thanks, babe!

in other news, matt and i are so excited to get back into the swing of shooting again after our two week break. we’re headed to augusta this weekend for a bridal session and to the beach next weekend for our first wedding of the season! We’ve got some engagement pics coming up too; with everything turning green and beautiful we cannot wait to get out and shoot!

one more thing, i have decided that taking immaculate care of my hands makes me feel more professional; any ideas for polish brands that don’t immediately chip off would be greatly appreciated! ;)

blog accountability

matt and i got married and officially settled in atlanta this past august. since then, we’ve painted (twice), our numerous empty frames have filled up, we’ve installed a glorious new shower-head, and our little place has become home. there is one thing left that is bothering me. we have a large blank canvas that peeks out from behind a neutral colored couch with a space on the wall above it that screams, hang something here! The key word is this is a blank canvas.

i first painted this canvas in high school. i painted over it in college and it now sits waiting to be painted again. i’ve been through many ideas since we’ve moved in: painting it solid, matt and i painting it together (haha), covering it in fabric, etc; it’s now time to actually do something. with this blog and you all as my witness, i will paint this canvas within a week! i’ve really fallen in love with hand-drawn wallpaper lately and i’m running with that idea, a subtle pattern, but hand drawn so a bit uneven, hold me accountable, you’ll see a picture of it in seven days!

moving on!

grant, lucy, matt and i were excited about how the ‘pew shots’ came out, but they weren’t easy for any of us! cars kept zooming up behind them and between every shot or two we’d have to drag the pew over and let a car by, it was nuts! Here’s a funny sequence to brighten your day:

i hope everyone is having a great week!

ah, the weekend…

good morning friends! -it’s a beautiful one here in atlanta! after a weekend of relaxing and rejuvenating, i am totally ready to take this week by storm. (i’ve already planned what we’re eating for dinner tonight and tomorrow and i’m about to track down all the hangers in the apartment and reorganize the closet!)

our saturday began with a late breakfast, followed quickly by a desire to get outside and enjoy the day. it was beautiful walking around buckhead; it’s no park but it’s just fascinating to see the way sunny and 65 can transform a city. people were walking everywhere and dogs were abundant, it really reminded us why we live here.

sunday matched saturday’s glorious weather and after church and brunch with friends none of us felt like going home. because we all love dogs (and none of us have one) we decided to head to the packed and crazy dog park at piedmont park. matt and i found the love of our lives (of course) in the form of molly, a spaniel-maltese mix with a little golden retriever. how perfect is she??

we spent the rest of the day enjoying the sun and just before heading home grabbed some rita’s ‘ice-custard happiness’ (yup, that’s their official byline). here are a few pics we shot while enjoying friends and sunshine:
