some good news!

we are happy to welcome ashley and david’s slideshow to our gallery page! check them out!

as you may already know, matt is a designer for a small ad agency here in atlanta. he really loves the people there and i’m pretty sure they love him – at least he keeps them entertained ;) !

all that to say, matt has officially bid farewell to full-time at his agency. it was not an easy decision, but now that it has been made we are stoked! we’re so blessed that photography demands so much of our time; it’ll be exciting to finally lavish our little biz with the attention we think it deserves. i’m most excited that we’ll be able to accept more shoots during the week and matt’s totally pumped about maintaining our quick turn-around time for our clients. overall, this is a scary (individual health insurance? eek!) move but a move that we’re trusting will help us better satisfy you, which is totally our ultimate goal.

anyway, so that’s what’s new here in the altmix home! before you started reading i forgot to warn you of the semi-serious, semi-businesslike nature of this post and i’m sorry. i guess that is one of the perils of reading my online journal! ;) so let’s spice things up a little with a recent love of mine. this dress is entirely too short for me, not too flattering of a shade for my tones, and carries a hefty price tag. but i’m in love. someone else please buy this, pleeease?!

sally & andrew are married!

sally and andrew walked down the aisle exactly six years after their first date! it was a much anticipated day full of excitement, love and a few nerves. sally and i had been in pretty much constant contact since their engagement shoot and it was really awesome to watch the number of exclamation points rise steadily with each email she sent. when matt and i arrived in augusta on saturday i really do think that we were almost as excited for them as they were! their love is so evident; they planned every aspect of wedding together and saturday morning they took a break from finalizing details to share a big pancake breakfast at ihop. see, aren’t they just so lovable?! here are a few of our favorite shots from their day:

thank you guys so much for allowing us to be a part of such a wonderful day! we look forward to keeping in touch, best wishes!!

ashley & david are engaged!

By | Engagement Sessions | 2 Comments

i start this post with just a little sadness. engagement session inundation ends here; we’re going miss the great one.on.one time we get to spend with our clients. we’ve learned a lot these last few months doing these shoots but most importantly we’ve decided that letting people be who they are as a couple yields awesome pictures. we love encouraging our couples to suggest a location that means something to them (like the first date spot or the proposal location), bring a fun prop (like an adorable puppy or guitar), and even plan an activity to do while we shoot (like a picnic!). we’ve had an excellent season of creative and fun couples and we couldn’t ask for a better kick off to wedding season!

today i’m really excited to share a few pics from ashley and david’s engagement session on wednesday. they took us to one of their favorite spots outside of atlanta, the ruins of an old paper mill that sherman burned on his march through atlanta. when we got down to the ruins and saw them overrun with ivy (and ants! but we tried to ignore that;)) and perched just beside a river we knew immediately why they love this place. it’s secluded and natural and beautiful, perfect for a couple in love, and perfect for a shoot! ashley and david laughed and kissed and hugged the entire session, it was so cute just to watch them enjoying one another. i love my job. here are a few of our favorite shots:

thanks you guys for a wonderful shoot, you picked a great location and it couldn’t have been more fun! we’re really looking forward to the wedding!
