jessica & timothy are engaged!

By | Engagement Sessions | 11 Comments

some of you who follow us on twitter have asked us about our recent update, ‘probably our most interesting engagement session yet!’ well here is your answer; we shot this session during a downpour in the dark- half outside half in a library. whaaat?! we called timothy and jessica earlier last wednesday expecting to reschedule; instead they said they were up for some ‘different’ photos so we grabbed a couple of flashes and jumped in the car to head to athens!

we met them at the library, toweled off (why? who knows.), and dove back into the rain to start shooting. to be honest i was scared. looking up through the rain into the dark, locked academic buildings around us i had no idea how we were going to make this happen. luckily, jessica and timothy are the sweetest, most patient couple in the world. they talked to us, entertained each other and jumped at whatever insane thing we suggested. they stood in the rain while we tested flash angles- chatting away like they didn’t even realize that they were chillin’ in a flood.

we finished up in the library where i welcomed the green florescent light like i never have before. as we shot them cuddling through books i realized how amazing these two are. nothing can stop them. i never saw a hint of frustration from either of them regarding soaked jeans, sharing an umbrella or strange looks in the library. they spent every second together being together- talking, laughing, cuddling- and it was incredible. no doubt when they’re married they won’t let bothersome things like taxes, laundry and bills get between them. because they’ll be together. and when they are together, they are together

my fave! i love how all of the green showed up:

anna & ray are married!

By | Weddings | 6 Comments

last saturday was the perfect day for a wedding. the fall air was a little crisp and the sun was kicking through the trees at the gardens at great oaks in roswell, georgia. it was anna and ray’s day- a day they had been waiting seven years for, a day so beautiful they deserved it. they were in high school when it all started; the first date was to stone mountain where they returned years later for a surprise engagement! i always get excited when i meet a couple who has come as far as they have; it bodes so well for a long and happy future. there are no doubts about this couple! here are a few of our favorite shots; let’s start off with anna’s great grandmother’s earrings. she wore them in her hair for her ‘something old,’ and they were stunning. what a creative idea!

the gentlemen:

anna’s mom looks on during her final preparations:

last minute hug and encouragement from her grandmother before walking down the asle:

there were lots of beautiful ladies ready for the bouquet toss:

anna & ray, thank you so much for having us! we loved how calm yet exciting your day was. we so respect your long commitment to each other and we wish you the best for years to come! i am so jealous of your asheville honeymoon, what a perfect choice for this time of year! i’m sure we’ll run into you soon, we look forward to it! congratulations!

baby thoughts.

watch out world, it’s a double feature! welcome to the gallery page lesley & michael and stephanie & jason! i’m so glad we got these shoots in while everything was beautifully green and sunny!

ever since jayci’s baby shoot i feel like all of the sudden babies are a bigger part of our lives. i’ve talked to more new moms and pregnant gals lately than ever before. this does not mean i am getting baby fever. so matt, i know you’re reading this, you can take a breath now. it’s still a scary thought for someone like me who cannot make dinner without something boiling over or go a day without hot chocolate, tiny dill pickles and some kind of cheese.

like many couples, matt and i talked about little ones before we were married. we agreed on a number and a timeline and that was the only serious conversation we had about it. subsequent conversations have involved: how crazy a child would look with matt’s eyes, my cheeks, matt’s torso and my legs; how, as an infant, little altmix will sport some kind of a diagonal fauxhawk and finally how we will trick him into liking good food at a young age. when i say we won’t have kids for a while it’s because we shouldn’t- at least until we find better reasons and stop betting on whose nose he’ll get.

just a few of my thoughts from today.
