my pact.

watch out! three rockin’ couple’s engagement sessions for your viewing pleasure:

you know we’re photographers. you know about yellow bike. you know that matt thinks i eat too many pickles and that i think matt is a total stud. what you don’t know is that right now i’m in a bit of a crisis. this happens every year, twice.

i dig under the bed for my huge tupperware bins of the upcoming season’s clothes and what i find i might as well throw out the window. i did not wear these things! but oh yes i did. and now that it’s getting cooler and i’m pulling out the warmer clothes the thought of wearing these things again just makes me cringe.

you must know, i’m not a clothes snob, not even close. but seriously every time i go under that bed and check out what i have to offer myself for the upcoming season i just get discouraged. i wear boring clothes. i cannot even cover that up with the word ‘classic.’ really, just boring. safe. those are not the words that describe the clothes i really like, just the ones i end up buying. i have more soft cotton, solid color shirts than most of the population. i need to make a pact with myself this season, and in order to keep it, i’m sharing it with you: this season i will take risks and buy a few pieces that i just love, instead of filling the closet with more of what it already has. not a life-shattering pact, i know. but it’s time. thanks for listening!

AAAAAAAAH! can i please join your pact? i know the feeling. and its depressing. i look in my closet and i think “you’ve got to be kidding me”. its no fun :( but what is worse is when i go looking for new things, i somehow always end up with the boring stuff. creatures of habit, i suppose.

Go Kate! You can do it!! I am determined as well to step outside of safe and have fun. I adore clothes and shopping but I tend to go boring and safe 9 times out of 10….

Fashion tip for the fall: Gray and green are the colors to look for as well as feminine details.

    Man, I miss What Not to Wear…need a t.v. :)

I think you are always dressed cute Kate!! I understand though about hating what is in your own closet. I too suffer from the plain cotton syndrome. You’ll have to let me know if you end up finding any good stores to shop in!

    Go for it, Honey! ;-)

I feel you on the clothes thing – except I’m not as organized so mine is just mixed into my closet and I wonder if I wore anything at all! :-) haha
ps – I could not be happier with our pictures! they’re amazing! :-)

  • I can totally related. I too dug the clothes out from under our under bed storage and totally disliked what I saw. (And by the way, wouldn’t it be nice to have a big walk-in closet so we wouldn’t have to go through this task twice yearly?!) I think I pulled out 5 plain white long sleaved cotton shirts – one would think from my collection that long sleeved shirts were only made in white cotton – talk about the need to take some risks. Although on a happier note, between Roger and I we brought 6 bags of clothes to Goodwill so at least someone will benefit from my fashion mistakes of latter years. :)

girl, you got classic enough to cover a life time. It’s time to get some things that MIGHT cost too much but that will get you through these cold months that we HATE. seriously. do it. and then after a night of wearing it and feeling fabulous, get home, get into your old faithfuls and get some hot chocolate. as I speak I am in my pajamas (yes, it IS 7:20…yes I HAVE been in them since, oh, 6:30) and I’m nursing a cup of HC. Miss you a lot.
