last spring, on a particularly beautiful afternoon, we met caitlin & nelson for drinks at leon’s. we got to know their story and ended up talking about everything from our beloved pooches to running to their own love of photography. we walked back to the car excited about the prospect of capturing the next chapter of their story. a couple seasons later we started to talk about their engagement photos. the blazing summer had finally cooled and it was again enjoyable to spend a couple of hours in the sun, so we marked the calendar. the day for their shoot arrived, and, to be kind, i’ll call it ‘gusty.’ really, the wind was whipping through the city, creating whistles in the trees and chaos with my hair. thank goodness caitlin has the kind of hair (and overall style) that looks natural and beautiful in this enviornment. really, it would shock you to see what matt & i looked like at the end of this shoot compared to how perfect caitlin & nelson remained. they probably went on to a cozy, romantic dinner in the city afterward- and i wouldn’t even stop by the grocery! anyway, in case you needed proof, behold their adorableness:
we didn’t even prompt nelson to hold his coat like this; he’s just naturally classic. they really are perfect together:
a little fun in the kudzu jungle turned into some of our favorite shots EVER:

caitlin & nelson, you guys rocked this shoot! it was great to see you again and we can’t wait to photograph your wedding! [also, thanks SO MUCH for the running encouragement! it’s great to hear advice from someone who is way more experienced than we are!]

our family was in town this thanksgiving and we had so much fun sitting around and looking through these pictures. everyone thinks they turned out great, and we couldn’t agree more. PS love the shot of me with a “mustache”…it was definitely a company favorite :)
haha, we knew we had to keep that one for some laughs- even if it didn’t quite make the blog or slideshow! ;) we’re glad the fam was able to gather around and enjoy them!
These shots are super gorgeous!!!! Beautiful bride and I love her hair!!
I see a lot of engagement shoots through my work at EAD, and this is one of my favorites! Love the curly hair and kudzu poses.
